So Ive been looking around this section for info on these sleds for next year and there seems to be a lot of actual mechanical failures that have needs to be addressed with warranty work. unless corporate Yamaha or the dealership is going to foot the bill for every round trip my snowmachine has for needed fixes that arise (yea right).
I live in southwest Alaska. 300 mile plane trip to anchorage, or 7+ day barge trip in the summer. there is not a Yamaha dealership that I can just drop off my machine at to have them fix there mess ups. so it all lays in my hands when something breaks, I will need to buy with the intentions of never sending it back to anchorage for anything.
so here is the pole, do you work on your own viper's major problems and not deal with warranty work? Never had a problem, or how many times have you brought your viper to the dealership for MAJOR warranty work? not interested about the small problems and easy fixes, just the major failures where you missed out on days of riding because of something Yamaha/Arctic Cat or the dealership could have prevented or designed better.
Thanks for your time, Nate

Mine has been twice. The reverse actuator broke from being installed to tight at factory. Also the hand warmers quit working. Most of the time I fix my self. That is twice as many times as any of my nytro have been to the shop, which is never.

Twice to the shop.
Trip 1: chaincase tensioner loose from factory resulting in loss of chaincase oil. Chain, gears, etc. were subjected to high heat and replaced. All work done on warranty. 2 parts on back order. Oil and filter change.
Trip 2: returned for warranty parts that were on back order and completed that job. 2nd oil and filter change.
Reverse actuator update still has do be done so there will be a third trip.
2053 miles.........machine's been excellent !!!

3900 miles and never to the dealer once. I do my own look overs and maint. First year of off a Polaris and this thing has been amazing. I do have warm start issues and a few small things I will address at the end of the season but I am impressed.

Great POLL so to date => 3/4 1 or less visits. Sometimes I/we read the posts.... problem, ya me to, then I heard a budies might be doing the same thing and jump to they are ALL having this problem.
NOW I have been the poster as well in past so not 'casting stones' at anyone just reminding myself and others that most are doing well.
Not that we or YAMAHA shouldn't pay attention.

I voted zero, but I have a short list of minor stuff to take it in for this summer. I wasn't about to stop riding for any of it.

Mine at 4000 miles has been in the shop three times, and three weeks. For pretty major issues. The clutch issue broke four belts. Under warranty.
Oil separator sat in the shop for a week to figure out what happened. And fix under warranty.
Head gasket and another week due to a bad gauge, another week and not under warranty.
I lost my sled for three weeks and I average around 6-7000 mile a year. This year was a great snow year and I only got just shy of 4000 miles.
