I have an 09 vector that i have only ridden once for 30 miles. I am taking it up north for two long weekends here shortly and i was wondering how often plugs foul out on these or need to be changed? I'm assuming i should have some spares along with me? Im used to the older vipers and that where you may need to change one every now and then and obviously my fuel injected apex is completely different. Thanks in advance

Wife has a 09 as well, just changed plugs at 5000 miles, nothing was wrong with them just did it because. They seem to last if you warm it up for 10 minutes before moving it.

Plugs? They have plugs?

sold an 06 with 18,000 km and original plugs

they don't foul if you never start it without warming it up fully and get it off of choke as soon as you can,
which should be about 10 seconds

Do not start your sled just somebody can hear it, start it when you want to ride it

Put Iridium IX plugs in my Vector. Should be good for 160,000 kms. I'll probably die before they need to be changed. Kept the originals as a spare set. Can't ever remember when I fouled a plug on any of my four strokes ie: lawnmowers, snowblowers, atv, snowmobiles, and cars over the past 35 years. Only changed because were burned up from years of use. Now 2-strokes, that's a different story.

How often do you change your plugs on your truck? As long as you let it warm up properly from a cold start, the plugs should be the last thing on your mind...

A truck/car engine can run up to 100,000 miles on a set of plugs but there is one big difference when comparing them to a 4-stroke snowmobile. Automobiles run much lower RPM's then snowmobiles engines and the plugs are being fired approximately half of what snowmobile plug do. That being said I normally change the plugs every 5,000 miles.

By that math then, 100,000 mile plugs for car spinning 2000 rpm at cruising, and sled spinning roughly 4 times faster at 7000-8000 rpms at trail speeds, equates to plugs lasting 1/4 as long. Which gives you plugs that last about 25,000 miles then.
Of course, nothing wrong with changing your plugs more often, but I prefer bang for your buck when deciding what to spend my money on. Snowmobiles are money pits in general, so I would rather be putting gas in them and riding than putting money into things with questionable returns at best.

Thanks for the replies thats kind of what i expected but just wanted to double check. Don't want to be stuck any where with no plugs. Ive noticed it seems to start on 2 cylinders for a minute then the 3rd kicks in and runs great, I'm sure its due for a carb cleaning

Run Sea Foam in it about every other tank of fuel, and give it an extra dose prior to storage and never worry about cleaning your carbs again.

Learned a while ago on here that not all gas is equal between U.S. and Canada, but for what it's worth, going on 5 yrs now and absolutely no carb issues or cleaningg required on 2 sleds I own since using Sea Foam. ;)!

You made this statement about running Seafoam = "never worry about cleaning your carbs again"

Got to be careful about making such definitive statements when it is not true.......US, Canadian, European or whatever gas you run.
