Just ordered a new Bender Mountain exhaust for my Apex. How big of a job is it to do the change over. I have the service manual but they say to remove the skid to take out the exhaust. I'm sure there is an easier way. I've searched here but couldn't find anything. Some pics would be nice. Is there anything I need to know before I start the job. My sled only has 400 miles on it so I doubt there will be any major issues.

So from what I read it appears that I have to drain my fuel tank as well. Or can it be done with fuel still in the tank. I have a full tank in it now :)

I was able to just lift up the rear of the tank to get to the holes ya might try it first would save a whole lot of time.

If the tank is full just siphon half out. Use a 2by4 to hold up the tank enough to get to the holes for the clamps. Keep an eye on the donuts, one of mine kept getting pushed up. Having two people helps. Side to side and up and down while pushing hard did it for me. Don't forget to put the rubber plugs back in. I just dropped the back bolts for the skid and it gave my enough room to work and they line up easy to bolt back in. Good luck and enjoy the sound.

Thanks. Now all I need is the exhaust...come on Purolator

I was able to get mine in as above. You do need to be very gentle with the donuts, they crush easily. You need to be sure that you are properly aligned before pushing the pipe on. I've had mine about 2300 miles and it fits very well and until recently sounded real good. It seems to be getting louder. I was going to contact them to see about how to repack the muffler but their website seems to have disappaered. Has anyone repacked these?

I don't know if you can re-pack them. I have the same thing, only the trail version. It's not that bad of a job, but you'll need a dremel or a small scroll saw to trim the exhaust heat shield. The Bender pipes have one side that fits the factory shield, and one side that will need the opening enlarged.
Donuts are always a pain. I wish there was something better.
