ball finally came in.

has anyone changed one yet.....are we talking hammer, puller or remove a-arm and use a press.....?

thought I would ask before I start.

thanks, Brian

Take it off and use a press. it's hard to get them started streight, and you don't want to pound on the spherical bearing with any thing. To get more life out of it pack it full of grese every time you ride. Cory Davidson is doing this with his race sled and has had better luck with them not pounding out.

did they update these or are they the same crummy balljoints that came with the sled? I was shocked at how much play I have in mine. Damn near 3/8" up and down on one of them and almost 1/4" on the other one.
Dealer is FINALLY getting them in this week. Was it covered under warranty for you?

Hey Brian you need to do them in a press. Also not sure I haven't looked at mine 100% yet but I want to add a grease nipple to it, have a peek and see if you can too that way you can grease it after each weekend.

Mine are beat right out after 715miles. I called my dealer yesterday and the service manager called Yamaha and they said they had a few complaints about the ball joints going bad early. They said the parts will not be updated until fall if they are even updated all. The Teflon liners crack and come out of the inside of the ball joint. Mine move up and down 3/8th. They are going to warranty mine. They ordered two today. I don't want to bother installing new ones if they aren't any better. Is it possible to make a ball joint work from a another make or an automotive ball joint?

My dealer is replacing mine under warranty along with the tie rod end joints 400 miles and toast. Looked at a brand new Nytro on the floor and the lower arm joints had alot of up and down movement too.

My LH ball joint puked out the liner at 750-800 miles. This is unacceptable to me. My spindle is now full of slop both vertically and horizontally.

While I'd far more rather deal with chassis issues over motor problems, the issues with the Nytro front end seem very preventable. I mean, holy sh!t, how long have they been producing quads with a similar front end? My Vector at 2500 miles is junk show loose but doesn't exhibit all the play that my Nytro does simply because it uses horizontal bolts to hold the spindle in place. The Nytro front end needs improvement. I don't understand why I didn't read about the Phazer having issues last year since the front ends are very similar?

ER Yamaha had a good solution when I was in there today. I'm going back Friday to buy them if they're ready.
