How to test stator output

Trying to test my stator but not sure what the readings should be since the values are all over the place on the web. I am testing the output with the engine running at between 2500 and 3000 rpm. I am getting about 34 volts on all three legs to ground. I believe it should be closer to 40 volts but not sure. Also 14.4 vdc at the battery while running.
