how to test your heated visor

On mine you do not get a closed circuit through the lens because there is a conductive coating that has resistance (that's what heats up) but I don't know what the Ohm value should be. That's what confused me because I could never find a closed circuit but then I found a bad wire, fixed it and still had an open circuit. I can try and measure it tonight but not sure if it would be the same for all visors.

Should be 10 - 20 ohms. Can you give it a 12v source and use an infrared temp sensor?

Just found this on ebay
ELECTRIC HEATED SHIELD HELMET TESTER SNOWMOBILE ATV HJC

Might be handy to have.

That's pretty cool because it can be used as a flashlight too but it will only test power in the cord and won't tell you if your visor is bad. I had a bad wire in the plastic housing right on the visor so power looked good right up to that point but visor wouldn't heat.

Don't use one and get a 509 helmet and goggles, I Drive in -35 lost and don't get cold find it warmer than my old heated visor helmet. Don't worry about a cord going on and off it's alot lighter. My Dad told me i was nuts when i bought it and i would freeze, he took it one day when i was gone in -35 and couldn't believe how warm and light it was on his head.

i did get the 509 sinister goggles and matte black helmet, however wanted to have my heated visor ready for back up in case. i found out the fuse was bad so changed it to a 5 amp one and just wanted to be sure everything s good to go while i wait for snow!

I'm reading about 30 ohms across the lens.

Hye Guys, thanks so much for your help. Blown fuse, and the connection on the visor had a short in it, went to a local surplus store and got the same rca connector for 50 cents. sure bets $80 for a new visor.
