Anyone know if the hyfax off an apex mountain (144?) is dimensionally (except length) the same as the hyfax used on the 121, 128 and 136 skids? the reason i ask is the hyfax on my vector ltx (136) falls just a bit short of the end of the rails. I was thinking of getting the 144" (if it fits) cutting and beveling it so it hung off the end just a little bit so there was something to grab with the needle nose visegrip / slidehammer thingy i made for changing them. This would (hopefully) keep me from having to hassle with trying to drive them off from the front till i can grab it. unfortunately this thing likes hyfax and changing them lying on a cold, wet trailer floor sux big time. anything to make the job easier would be a plus. i opened up a pair of windows with a die grinder to make it easier to get the hyfax through and brushed the last set with neverseize for aluminum but i still hate changing them.
thanks

Yep. Measure and cut to fit. I opened all my windows to allow more snow through for lubrication. You may notice the long stretch of rubber that runs the full length of your sliders. More so when your track clips begin to wear, but none the less a total design flaw. Cheers, Scott

I always used 136" hyfax on my 121" skid and cut them down to fit. Never had a problem

you will find you will have a clicking sound from your track windows as they come off the end of your sliders if you let them stick out past the end of your rails.

Good point! I always cut them to match the angle of the rail ends

i'm gonna give it a try. i don't intend to have them stick off much just enough to grab with the vise grips when i have to change them. i'm going to taper them up as well so there shouldn't be a problem with them catching in reverse. when i have them off i'm also going to dress off the end of the rails, they come to a sharp point and are always trying to cut into the sliders when you're putting new ones back on.
