Well I picked up one of the slide hammers (EZ Slide removal tool) worked slicker than snot I don't think it took 10 mins and I had both slides out cleaned up the rails with a little WD40 and slipped the new ones on 30 mins max start to finish.
Highly recommend this tool if you have a dent puller type slide hammer it can be modded to work also.

Does it just screw into the rear of the hyfax and then you slide hammer them out?
I have a dent puller I use to pop open coin doors on arcade equipment that the keys are missing for. I just thread a 2" or 3" drywall screw into the lock thread the puller on the collar with the screw thru it and one or 2 pulls and the door is open. I'm wondering if I can do the same thing with my hyfax. Do you have a picture of this tool and how it's used?
Thanks
PS...did you shave one window on tour track wider to get them out? My RX windows are way smaller than the hyfax...
I have alwyas pulled the skid since I was going thru it anyhow...but it would be nice to have a fast way to swap a set if I were in need to on a trip!

Sounds like your dent puller is perfect for the job
Pretty much works like you described it has an interchangable self tapping screw that you screw into the back end of the slide right below the rail. It takes about 15 to 20 slides of the hammer and there out. I did have to cut one set of windows about 1/8 on each side just used a razor blade and carved out the bottom 2/3 of the window away from the clip. If you need a picture of the tool let me know just a matter of getting the camera out

No need for the pic. The slide hammer I have will do exactly what I was hoping. What you described is what I was thinking. I just put the skid back in all freshened up. 8 of us leaving Sunday for 7 days of riding. I will be bringing it and extra hyfax just in case...but I think conditions will be excellent from what it looks like so I'm hoping I wont need it!
Thanks for the info!!!
