Yeah test this stuff for us!

Any updates?I am more interested in handling.Mine doesnt bottom but is terrible on smooth packed highspeed corners.

Put on about 20 miles in some beat up trails yesterday testing some other stuff. Going through 1-2 footers this setup was excellent. These were moderately beat trails. The rear end wasn't bucking or anything like it used to. The sled went straight and I could go any speed I wanted through the bumps. Even releasing the throttle going downhill through bumps I didn't get that 'going over the bars' feeling from the rear end bucking.
So far I am amazed at the difference. There has been a couple times I've thought of calling Hygear and saying how great it is.

Monker,
My wife and I just returned from a trip putting the first 400 miles on her new 07 Phazer FX. We chose this sled because we wanted a light weight, lower horsepower, rev-like riding position 4-stroke. While I love the GYTR clickers on the front, the rear suspension in this form is not going to cut it.
I installed Hygear's dual spring kit for the center shock, torsion bushings and anti bottom rollers hoping to get a smooth ride for her. I spent a lot of time trying different setups but could not get this sled to be a comfortable sit down sled. When riding behind her I observed the tail light bouncing up and down like a pogo stick. No matter where I set the springs and rear shock the rear suspension was way too stiff in the stutters and too soft through the big bumps... (Bottoming) My sorta experienced self thinks there is no hope for these shocks valved the way they are now and that I will send them out looking for better results, but I am unsure about removing the link and un-coupling the rear skid.
It's good to hear your feedback regarding Hygear's full setup and I am considering using them to look to improve her sled. I would love to have her riding comfortably at her slower pace on the trails yet still be able to confidently hold the trail when I get on the sled and throttle up a bit. My question to you is this: Given our desired use for this sled, do you feel the Hygear changes would deliver what we are looking for?

I don't understand the stock valving on the shocks. It rides rough in the small stuff, and too soft in the big bumps. I hopped on an old '90s F3 ski-doo last night, and the ride was waay better until the moguls got big. What causes that horrible kicking?

That kicking is because you are running too much spring and not enough compression damping and not enough rebound damping.Last year I had exact same issue.I spent $400 for rear Custom Axis shock and I am telling you all it was the best $400 I have spent on my sled.Totally corrected the bottoming on soft and kicking on hard settings of torsion spring. You could probably do same with stock rebuildable rear shock if you send it to Pioneer for a revalve.

Yes, I think they would. If you call Hygear and talk to Ross, he can set you up. The improved ride I got was also from having them rebuild/revalve both rear shocks. They can set them up for a particular rider weight and riding style. This is where I would start, and they can advise you on if you should get the link removal kit, etc.

I got the anti-bottoming kit and softened up front and rear track springs. Huge improvement! I had everything set stiff so it wouldn't bottom, much better now.
