Hyperfax instead of wheels?

My inside wheels just went as expected. I was going to get 1 or 2 of the fix wheel kits before this happened to help with hyfax wear since I do a lot of lake running. Now I am thinking 2 sets of wheels and to replace my inside wheels I am looking at $300. Has anyone installed the Hyperfax instead of replacing wheels? I have a fully clipped track.

If they are the two inside wheels in the back they had a recall on them. I just replaced mine after 2500 miles for nothing.

Yes those are the ones that went. I just figured that instead of $300 worth of wheels just go with $175 for sliders and be done with it. Are the Hyperfax that good?

$300 for wheels? You'd have to be committable to pay that. You can get wheels for a LOT less. Just don't look at exact replacements. Pick a set of wheels off an older sled, like around a '90 Exciter. You can get nice rubberized cast aluminum wheels with REPLACEABLE BEARINGS for MUCH cheaper than that. Nice thing about the cast aluminum wheels is that they don't bend, break, or otherwise fail. They'll cost you $30 each wheel. In fact, Royal Distributing has them for $20 per wheel + $10 covers circlip and bearing. Check their catalog on page 175, part number 04-116-96

you can get the spoked accesory catalog wheels for very about 25 i think.....and they seem to hold up well,the inners dont last as long usually cause of the studs.....while the outer wheels for me seem to last and last(spoked)

the hyperfax are a waist IMO....they will wear out too,if you dont have ALOT of wheels.

many guys run DOO wheels(135mm) slightly larger,and say they last...

I wanted 2 sets of the Fix Power Sports wheel kits. Then replace the 2 that failed. Is there a cheaper way out? I was going to put one set on the bend in the rail and one just behind the 2 factory outside wheels. That is where mine wear out.

YES...exactly,then you will have my exact setup,doesnt wear sliders at all now...

That is exactly what I was going to do. It is hard to swallow investing $300 in wheels and sliders but I guess that is what I will do.

If it was an investment, it would be different, but its not. This is just an expense.

(an investment is where you seek financial reward, ie, buy $300 in wheels and sell them for $400, you've gained $100).

Kimpex makes a bolt on replacement wheel with replaceable bearing for around $22 per wheel. Bearing is included. 900 miles so far and they look like new. I replaced all six.

Switch to yamaha RX-1 hyfax, they are narrower , already have graphite in them and allow more snow into the track slowing the hyfax wear..

also use a slightly larger front bogie wheels..

Ive got 2650 miles on my current set of wheels when normally i changed them out every 4-500 miles!

LB I would have to disagree. I am going to spend $300. The return on that investment will be no more money spent on sliders and more importantly no more time spent changing them out. No more time spent ripping across the lake and checking to see if my clips are hot. No more time spent diving into loose snow after a run to cool them off. More time just going like hell! Time is money!
