I had a chance to see the new Yamaha tech presentation and here are some notes on all of the new models...
During the tech presentation Yamaha mentioned that full wet weight the Apex RTX is estimated to be lighter than the Fusion or Mach Z if they have electric start kits (which also adds cost to those models) The fact that the new Apex RTX is as light or lighter than 2-stroke 2-cylinders is amazing.
As the 2-strokes try to meet EPA they will get heavier, more expensive, and possibly less reliable.

That's a good deal. And if the RTX is that close in weight so are the other Apex models since they're only like 10 pounds or less heavier than the RTX. Did they mention anything about the suspensions on the different models? Like the differences between the Apex models.

I talked to my dealer today about pricing out a apex rtx. He asked why that particular model and I answered quite honestly I am coming from a Firecat and wanted the lightest four stroke yamaha made that had efi .
The BOMB makes a direct injection marine engine that actually weighs less than their previous FICHT engines. They have done amazing things with two stroke direct injection. I don't believe that two strokes necessarily have to get heavier, but the one deciding factor for me to switch is eventually the top end will need to be rebuilt on a two stroke where as the four strokes first sheduled service call (other than oil changes) is 26,000 miles.
