Well after a 2 day road trip thru 50 and 60 mph winds,I finally made it out to Togwotee Pass elev 9800 ft, the snow gods made my toil worth while dumping a fresh 8in the previous night.

At that alititude she fired right up, this sled has a way better ride than my 05 thru the stutter bumps and mogels it was like sitting on your couch at home, you cant even compare the 2 they are like night and day.
I was a little leary of rider forward but in the first 5 miles it was old hat and, i was comfortable.
Seat is way better thanks Yamaha for hooking us up with a better seat, footwells are better no way your feet going slide now they are hooked up.
Misses
Windshield is to low cold air hit me in the chest just below my chin.
After making a couple long passes in a field the belt started to squeal at a idle after the half throttle runs, belt was dry.
Taking the hood and side panels off could be a issue at night, find a good flashlight.
You folks who have not ridden your sled are in for a huge treat!
I can see lots of perma grins on that first ride.
Well worth the money ,i am glad i got rid of the 05.
ps It is still snowing

how was the riding at Tog? Many guys out? Is there any base yet and were you able to get off trail at all? I'm headed to the Snowies for turkey day but tog has twice as much snow right now and that will be my back up plan. ===SRXSRULE===

Sound like it was worth the road trip. I love the endurance of snowmobilers. Years ago I'Ve drove 6-8 hours to ride 1 or 2 hours and then return home. Sounds like the Apex is going to be lots of fun to ride. Still waiting for some sign of Winter in the Mid-West. Question on Windshield. It does look kinda low when setting on the seat. How do you measure the shield from the dash up or the length from hood up? I not sure but looks like a mid size on the ER. The RTX looks like a very low shield. I"ve been considering changing mine on the ER before I even ride it. Saw a sharp looking Chrome Diamond Plate from Sportech but fits the RX1 but is a low 15".

IS the belt squeel a break-in thing or is going to be a problem?

I do not know about the belt issue maybe LB or Tork mayput a spin on why it squeals,at idle.
As far as a base there is none, there was about 11 in of heavy wet snow on the ground,I never hit bottom it was better than most sat afternoons in the UP.
Sounds like most of the snow in wake of this storm fell,to the west of the divide.
Yeah calvin i am having J order me a taller shield for sure.

but I suspect the belt sqeel when warm is simply a belt tension issue and if mild will be gone in a hundred miles if more severe open the secondary by removing a washer behind each of the three adjustment bolts.
We will see how I did when the tuners check in. :ORC
Have fun man it is great to hear of people riding but hard to believe. It has been WARM here in MN.

I do not know why the belt squeels but it should be completely gone after the first 100 miles or so ![Big Grin :D :D](data:image/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAIAAAAAAAP///yH5BAEAAAAALAAAAAABAAEAAAIBRAA7)
How tall are you? Wondering about the windshield as well.

What do you mean, gone after the first 100 miles or so.... I'm not sure what you are saying? A belt only takes 30 miles to break in......Tork said:I do not know why the belt squeels but it should be completely gone after the first 100 miles or so

I read a post in another topic that suggested we should wash our belt in warm soapy water before the first use.

A squealing belt at idle is usually due to improperly adjusted belt deflection.
