I just can't stop thinking of an apex, I had a 2010 nytro rtx se and now with one season with a 2015 viper rtx dx. I'm thinking about looking into a 2015 apex not sure a short track or an xtx. What are the pros and cons between the two ? Also the wheight is it really that noticible ? How well does it handle in the tight woods trails and how much effort or body language is needed let's say through a few switch backs ? On average fairly aggressive riding, how many miles or preferably kms to a tank of gas can one get ? Any info or suggestions would be great thanks.
Well the last one I had was an 09 and all of them that I had were consistent at 15+ MILES per Gallon riding very hard 10 gallon tank =150 miles per tank. I think that converts to about 241 kilometers. When riding easy while following slower friends I could break 18. Boy I miss those days!!!!

I have 2013 apex 129in track. It is great in the woods with the EPS. Only has a 9 gallon tank. I ran run about 115 to 120 on a tank.

I love my 2011 XTX. Very fast with a pull that never seems to end. Rode a bit stiff for my liking but if you hammered it through the bumps it seemed to like it. Installed the Star kit in it and like the ride on the trails better (less stiff) but did not seem to loose the big bump capability. 110 to 130 miles to a tank if you push it mileage drops. Good cruise mode averaging 45 mph on the GPS gets 130 to a tank but soft snow lots of full throttle will drop that.
Some say the XTX is faster on top end but the tipped rail gives you a bit better turning and it gives you a bit better floatation. I also think from looking at the short tracks the XTX has a better of less of a angle of attack. Meaning it wants to lift the front in the deep snow rather then if the angle is steeper it wants to plow its way through. I run the stock ski's with snowtrackers and find I do not miss the curve planks I had before in the deep stuff. Sled just wants do keep the front up even at slower speeds.
My 136 inch Warrior seemed heavier then this 144 inch Apex. Either one stuck feels like a half ton rock when your alone. Use the Manitoba method and grab the front bumper and slide your feet under the front packing as much snow as you can under the front of the track. stand beside the sled and creep it out. Sled just seems to climb out on top of the packed snow. Then get on and drive away. Seen it work so many times. Even when I was stuck in waist deep snow.
