As you can see from my signature, I won a Nytro from Snowtrax TV. A few of you have inquired about it, so here's the story.
Last November I was on Snowtrax TV's website looking for the air times, because I wanted to watch the show. While searching around their site, I noticed a link to their "Pure Adrenaline Sweepstakes", where you had the chance to win a 2006 Nytro. Knowing that nobody ever wins those things, I said to myself "what the hell - it's free - what have I got to lose?". So I signed up.
Towards the end of January, I got an email at home from Vern Putzer (their marketing guy) saying that I had won the sled. At first I thought it was a hoax, or some kind of scam. But all they were asking for, was a phone number of where to contact me. Since you can get that out of the phone book anyway, I gave it to them. The next morning I got the call, and was informed that it was lagitamate - I WON! I was absolutely stoked!
I got the sled about a month later, and managed to get about 700 miles on it by the end of the season. I really do like the Nytro. It's the first Yamaha I've ever owned, and I'm really impressed - fit/finish, 4-stroke power, bump handing, etc, etc......
I used to ride a 1995 Indy 500 EFI - I beat the snot out of it for about 10 years, and 12,000 miles. My latest sled was a 2005 Ski-Doo Renegade 600 (hence the name gade-thrasher - my dootalk name). I sold that sled when I got the Nytro. But I liked the long track so much, that I am currently working on long tracking my Nytro as I'm typing this. You can see my progress in the Nytro section.
So that's the story. Ordinary people really do win those contests!!!

Thanks a lot guys!!! I really love this sled, and can't wait to get it out on the snow with the long track mod!
Yes, I will have to pay taxes on it when I file next year. They call it a "gift tax" - what a crock that is!! I'll have to claim 25-30% of the retail value on my income taxes.
But I suppose - roughly $3000 for a brand new sled ... that's hard to beat!

Would you have ever considered buying a Yamaha 4 stroke, if you hadnt won it?

When I bought my Ski-Doo Renegade I was really on the fence between buying a REV, or a Vector. Both had their advantages and disadvantages. I ended up buying the Ski-Doo because I came across a deal I couldn't pass up.
After I won the Nytro (and put some miles on it), I really wanted to keep both sleds, but just couldn't afford to do that. So I went back and forth, trying to decide which one to keep. And the list of likes about the Nytro ended up being much longer than the likes about the Ski-Doo.
