love these cable mounted ice scratchers but snapped off two tips during two days riding. only $20 a set i think but was wondering for the other people that have them if you ever just used a bolt and nuts? if there gonna need tips that often rather just toss on some cheap steel . anybody try this? question is for people w scratchers only please. thanks

watching. my plan was to use grade 8 bolts bent to shape for mine when replacing. interested in any answers.

Where do you have them mounted that you are busting them off? Ski mounts or on the skid?

I have BOP ski mounts and I have lost a tip due to it coming off, but have yet to break them.

That said, I cant see where a grade 8 bolt bent in a similar shape wouldn't work just fine. Looking forward to some input from someone who has done it.

mine are mounted on the skid rails and tend to self deploy on rough trails.

mine are ski mounted . i went over several bridges that trip so who knows. but yea . snapped off both tips. im glad the whole thing didnt come off though. they work great when there working as designed. can see the ice spray up under tunnel

I had them mounted on my skis and went over a rail road bridge. Both got ripped right off. Thank god I had Barn of Parts breakaway brackets or would have likely had ski damage. I’ll never run them on skis again.

i have cables that i made from 1/8 steel cable and cl clamps in case the get completely ripped off. i have the BOP brackets also. that way can save them if it does happen. i was leaning all the way forward and could see the spray of ice and snow they kicked up and would never go back. as far as ski damage? what the little extra screw that holds them? its loose anyways will break away. the spray from the front lubes and cools the best ive seen. put them onthe rails and youll loose most of that spray to the nowhere. IMO

no doubt the spray they make up front does more than rail mounted. As far as ski damage I was saying glad I had Travis mounts. I’ve seen other guys who have made there own mounts that fasten directly to ski vs Travis breakaway on the bolt. Can’t see how direct mount on the ski would have been good for ski....

My mounts,
