After using ice scratchers for a second season now, i noticed that when they are deployed, there is so much build up of frozen snow on the suspension and it seems lock everything up. I have seen this happen within 1 mile after deploying them. It happens on my rx1 shorty wih m20, but alot worse on my all stock 2015 apex xtx. It seems to pack hard like cement. Takes a whole day in a heated garage to thaw this packed snow. Anyone else notice this? I refuse to use them anymore.

I get it all the time on my Attak and Vector.... I do bring it in to thaw and check for stud damage after a hard day.. other then that I don't worry.. before you start out for the day let it warm up to the point of shutting down.. that's soften up stuff fast..

On the 09 nytro XTX, the scratchers are mounted on the common place on the skid and it really directs and packs the inside with way too much snow. While riding together, on the 07 Attak, they are mounted on the skis, lubricate perfect and I get almost no accumulation in the skid.

I will have to try a ski mounted set before giving up totally. What you said really makes sense. The skid mounted ones shovel pounds of snow in there all day long. I bet the ski mounted ones just allow some through the track windows, just like it should.

Anyone try the A-arm mounted ones like what yamaha offers in their accessories catalog?
