This is that Yamaha is marketing here. No rail mounted here. Got the first pic from the online apparel / accessories catalog and the second one froma finnish sled forum.

Anyone have them in use ? Any good? Thoughts? The guys who have those in use here say they are good, but not that effective on ice (really don´t have that kind of conditions here often).

I used tunnal scacters as I couint find a suitible location for the rail scatchers....my scatchers work great, but man they vibrate the $hit out of your feet!

I have heard a lot about scratchers what do they do?Throw ice up on the heatexchangers ? I heard somthing about if you dont have studs .They stay down all the time ? You only have one ? Help please .STEVE

Theese ones fit on both sides = 2. They say that using theese the wear on the slides is less.

They look like they do what they are suppose to do. My question is, will they beat the bottom of the belly pan all to hell from bounceing up off of stuff on the trail?

I have the ski mounted scratchers, they don't do #*$&@.

Those ones in the pic just look like the rear tail gate stoppers from a truck. My mate had a set and they didn't work very well as there was not enough downward pressure to throw up snow into the track.
The normal ice scratchers (rail type) are the best.

I think so too, here's a couple of pics...requires drilling 4 holes in the rails (2 on a side) then securing a lock nut. Pretty straightforward install and they work well. I thought mine may be too far back but the track circulates the lubrication where it's needed.

I have the same style as Elypsis shows in the pics above. only difference is i drilled and mounted them to the inside edges of my skis.
I think that it works better than the rail mounted style because it gets the ice/snow moving out infront of the rails instead of behind them.
When not in use just flip them up out of the way like on the rail mounted ones.
Sorry no pics

last weekend we were riding hard packed and icey conditions and we saw a group of 3 sleds with 1 ice scratcher on each, the same as the pic above. Looking at our sleds the suspensions had no snow in them and when we looked at the group with the ice scratchers the suspensions were full of snow. I will be getting 1 for next year. My sliders were shot in 300 miles

I went out for a little ride yesterday evening and left my scratchers down...when I got back (about 60kms later) my suspension was buried in snow; even up front. So yeah, they definitely work!

I custom made mine and work great, she loads up right to the rear heat exchanger...
