I have an 08 Phazer and am experiencing sever icing problem. My foot boards were completely filled with ice after a recent 170 mile ride. Is anyone else having this problem? Also I wore out a set of runners in 500 miles. We had some low snow conditions but the three revs I was riding with did not have the same wear as I did. Thanks, Steve.

Lots of posts about this.Close tunnel off for ice.Add low snow wheels and let them wear to the 10mm since it stops wearing. Also make sure the shaft which front inner idlers on isnt bent.

could loosen track a bit also. I have a mtn lite and don't care for riding trail but sometimes I do to get to where I WAN'T k to go. my first 1000 miles the hyfax wore fast but than neary stopped. I now have 2300 miles and still on original hyfax with abot 25% left. I check them ever ride and they seem to have stopped wearing prematurally. In the beginning they wear fast than slow way down. As the other guys mentioned, extra wheels will help

i get some ice on the back of the boards and usaly just kick and break it up when ever we stop. ive been thinking of using some silocon to seal the bottom of the side pannel and then using some of the 3m foam tape to hold the top to the tail light pice. i just have to check the temp range on the foam tape.

I was going to cover the hole in the tunnel a couple weeks ago. While I was in the process of doing so, I removed the rear plastics, the aluminum side panels and drilled extra holes in the running boards. Then I went for a ride and noticed that there was no icing up. Since then I have not had any trouble with icing up on the running boards. In the end, I ended up not covering the rear hole. I believe it is not icing up any more because it is more open enabling the steam to flow out instead of building up on the plastic and aluminum.

But you also removed the plastics. They route water over any shield and onto the sides and boards.Must of the icing is worst at about 10deg F or less.Above that its not to much of a issue. But of course we ride quite often in colder temps than that.Especially at night.

I usually ride in temps that are colder then -12 C and i found it helped a lot. If anybody is worried about covering the hole they could just remove the panels.
