Cleaned carbs, everything is good- fires up fine. Once it is warm she idles low- bring the adjustment up to 1200 idles fine but when you give it throttle, and let off, the rpms stay up then slowley come back down. If you lower the rpms at idle- it is not as bad when you let off but then it doesn't want to idle. Any ideas?

Idling down slow is the way it is to be. Mine is set at about 1500 rpm at the bottom end and it takes 30-45 sec to idle down. This is a very touchy setting and a wee bit changes a lot.

how is on the trail then when you get off the gas, does it slow down by itself? Last year I don't remember it slowing like that, let of the gas and it would slow quick. I have only had it running on the stand so not sure how its gonna translate on the trail. Guess i'll have to wait and see. Thanks

The idle adjustment is indeed a very touchy setting. Mine idles high when I come to a stop but only for a few seconds before dropping down to just under 1500 rpm. My idle adjustment cable seems to have a lot of fiction in it due to the bend that it makes running from the adjustment knob to the carbs, so sometimes I find it difficult to fine tune the setting. I believe I straightened the cable jacket a bit while adjusting it earlier this season and it was easier to dial in a better idle rpm level.

so then I should find the spot that works and except that it will do that from time to time? Is it a 4 stroke thing, my 2 stoke doesn't do it and to quiet honest- when i rode it before I didn't pay much attention to it.

Last year mine didn't idle high at all. But this year after cleaning the pilots and syncing the carbs it will idle high momentarily...go figure! I could probably adjust it down a bit but it doesn't bother me that it idles high for a few seconds so I'll just leave well enough alone.

These 1st 4 strokes all slowed down when you took your hand off the trottle. The newer ones do not. You get used to it and learn to keep a bit of pressure on the trottle especially in the corners.
