not having to worry about my motor(like I do now)....as well as the annoying constant maintenance on bushings, exhaust donuts, bearings or hyfax....i'm all in!!!!
Could be that Yamaha has taken snowmobiling to the next dimension over the past 11 years by building a sled that will take you farther with confidence, hence making it possible to log more trouble/worry free miles creating the maintenance issues I just whined about.
so what I'm thinkin is.....a chassis to match a Yamaha mill is a tall order.

Every time I go out riding and I see older sleds still running down the trails (80's-90's) they are almost always Yamahas. Why is that? I mean I can't remember the last time I saw an old AFS Arctic Cat or even a Prowler (AC's failed attempt to copy the original Phazer) still running around? They are long in the junk yard.

I still see a lot of srx's carving corners like crazy .

Here in AK its a completely different story. You hardly see any Yamahas, brand new or old. Lots of older Polaris sleds still running around and lots of Doo's starting from the ZX chassis on through the REV and now the XP's. You see Cats, lots more new ones in the recent 5 years or so. Occasionally see some old ones running around but not like the Polaris's.

I was thinking the same thing just yesterday as I was repacking my drive and jack shaft bearings, I had over 9,000 miles on my 97' SX 700 and never once even looked at those bearings, not to mention the motor that was all original as well. Those pro action SX and SXR models were some tough reliable machines.

The only OLD sleds I still see running around are mostly Yamaha (a TON of kids running around a on Phazer 1/2) and a Bunch of old Indy 400/440/500 sleds. Its rare to see an Cat older than 5-6 year or a trailing arm Doo even though I use to see quite a few of them back when I bought my SX-R. Hell I came across a group on monday of over 20 sleds and I seen 3-07' SX700 in group, a Pogo V-max, 2 Indy Evo and the rest on current Kitty and Doo sleds (not a single new Po Po OR yami) Still got my Phazer II with 14,000 miles on it sitting in the garage and it was purchased with under 700 on it in the mid 90's, only cost me an oil pump so far but she is getting a skid/track swap as the shocks are finally toast now and she is also getting VINTAGE tags in 2 years when she 25 years old!

I have been trying to keep out of the cat/yamaha stuff but I really hope they don't just drop a yamaha motor in a cat chassis.
