If I go through one more set of sliders I swear......

I used to waste my time with small wheels at the bend and other places, but they were more hassel than they were worth. Also used to install bigger wheels, but seemed to defeat the purpose of what hyfax are for in the first place. Heck, why not go back to an all boggie wheel suspension.

Then I just started letting 'em wear to a point and they stopped. Also I constantly look for fresh snow and I'm very aware of speed verses heat/friction on the hyfax. They only wear bad if you're running something that causes lots of friction and or creating high heat by running too fast for too long. (just keep melting point in mind)

I try to limit both and I always change my hyfax before they need it; usually 3500 miles.

slp pads helped alot on hyfax wear on my o6 apex, but i will still put on larger wheels this year, yami wheels are to small

I have the mono shock suspension (Atack)and I have over 10,000 km's with the original sliders. I was going to change them this fall but decided to go another season. I know some other riders with Apex's that have gone through 3 sets. I believe the sliders initially wear down quite a bit but after that they don't wear much at all. I do ride in good snow conditions with mostly groomed trail riding.

This is absolutely 100% impossible. :drink: Either the hyfax changing fairy breaks into you garage and changes them out for you, or your mother is handy with tools. It doesn't even matter if you're telling the truth, no apex owner with a mind could possibly buy that. :tg:

Did you notice 10,000 km's which equals about 6200 miles. You might be right about the fairy. I don't have a surveillance camera set up in my garage but just in case I'm going to start leaving her cookies so she keeps coming back.

Re: Big wheels equal long life

I installed Kimpex 5.35" wheels on my Apex and added two extra wheels to the outside rails at where the rear swing arm mounts with great hyfax wear life. Have rode in lots of minimal snow conditions this year, about 2200 miles so far and only one set of hyfax this year. I will attach a pic showing the extra wheel location.

Bigdog, is your sled the 121 model or a 136?

I have been looking to add extra wheels to the rear of my 08 Vec 121 like you have in the 1st pic but I wasn't sure if there would be enough room or not?

If yours is a 121, do you have any rub or interference issues?

I am debating on whether to go with another marginal snow kit for that area or go the full size idler in there like yours?

Any and all info would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks ;)!

oversized wheels

I installed the oversized wheels and my hyfax last the whole season. I have aftermarket Kimpex wheels 5.35" I think they are for Polaris but they work great. Run stock or aftermarket hyfax just the cheapy ones withpout any problems, also added the marginal wheels up front and added two extra wheels out back spaced between the two inner rear wheels and the back. I have some pics and dimensions of the mod, but you need to PM me so I can send them to you as the TY site limits the JPEG file size. And last mine wear real quick to start with then stay good for the remainder of the season. Riding in northern lower Michigan we have lots of "snirt" trails and edges of roads yet they lasted all season, about 1300 miles and I will start this season with them as i would be wasting time and money if I replaced them now.
