Since I am switching brands, this waiting period is killing me. I need to see, run, sit, and listen to my new GT now, before I go into convultions. Boy, I hopes it everything I wanted and I hope it does'nt disappoint me.

No, I don't think I will be too hard on you guys. This is a great site and all. I think the only that might disappoint me is the Power. Also that they put the 30 percent plus densor foam in the seats, which would be better than the proto. The Yamaha Sales Rep said it was to be one of the changes from the protos to the production units. I felt the proto was a lttle too soft for my liking. But, the power, if it is at least the same as my 03 800 (that by the seat of the pants feeling) and it pulls just as hard, then I will be a happy camper. I believe I have already stated the power issue before.jtssrx said:Ya I hope it doesn't disappoint you either. We will never hear the end of the cross over complaints

Power? I think with the proper clutch Package, Traction products and skid setup you will hang with everything short of a Mach Z.
I can't speak for the seats U wasn't fortunate enough to ride an 06.

2 seasons back when I had my 03 I rode with a guy that had an 03 800 REV and I could take him anytime anywhere top to bottom, so I think you'll be pleased Rotax. I had 192 Woody's Mega bites and Heavy Hitters.
I'm talking straight aways not tight, nasty, mogul filled trails.

See, I was hoping know one would mention the racing thing, because not out of the hole, but at a 30 mph roll on to 100mph, I pratically killed an 03 RX-1. I had 120 studs up the center, no clutching or gearing and that was a straight line race, no trails, no twisties, just a good straight run to a little over a 100 and then I let off because I had it beat by about 6 lengths. I also race an 04 with the same results. So, that's why I'm on the cautious side or a little ansi about it, but from the people I've talked to from people have driven them in my area, to magazine editors, too this board, everyone has pretty much assured me that I don't have much too worry about. So that's good. As for those races. Those were the results, but I know they will be different, in other areas.

Rotax, put your worries to rest. Either the 2 you raced were dogs, or more likely they didn't have studs like you and didn't hook up. That rolling race you described is where the RX-1 really shines. The power is awesome. I agree with jtssrx that equally set-up the only thing that you won't keep up with or surpass is the Mach.

03 track didn't have a lot of hookup. My 05 studded pulled every 800 rev easily. Only thing I had trouble with were 03 F7's that had a little work. Did not race any mach's or fusions.
If you stud this machine you will be more than impressed.

03' rx-1 vs. new mach z
I raced the new mach z and I won the first race, but he won the second. It is all about who hooks up first, and I think this new apex is gonna beat the mach z all day long if the old 03' rx-1 could hang with them.

Wishfull thinking about the Mach Z, stock for stock, I can't see the Apex winning. Even if they are equally studded and had the same track. But hey, anything is possible.......

IMO: when ur only racing up to a 1/4 mile it does not tottaly depend on the sled, far from it
u got to look at the experience of the rider
if u got some sh*t head who picked up a mach for his first sled just so he'll have the biggest and someone who has been racing all his life, the guy with the experience could take the sh*t haed on a little 600 in a 1/4
like everyone else said...if u set it up right nothing short of a mach will hurt ya

Rotax..................... I have a 05 vector.. Trust me.. No matter who wins to the finish line.. It's fun to watch the other guys fill up with gas half way thru the trip.. I did that several times...Waaaaaaaaaaaay funny. You will enjoy that motor.. Oh! be carefull of the engine breaking when you let off the first time out... MM.

I had a 03 rx-1. It does depend on the hook up against the mach z. If the z hooks up it will take you. But dont worry, it will hold its own. You'll beat the (stock)800. Be patient she will get faster after 1,500 miles.
Dont worry about mach z, if they didnt map it correct again, it will be fouling out plugs. APEX ER on order. I rode a mach z, it pulled a little harded from 70-90 but falls flat after 100. The rx-1 was heavier but pulled harder to 70 and over 100,better sound too. I'll never go back to a 2stroke after having a hemi.
