Skidoo09/10,
I don’t know what your intentions are on this site, but most of us are experienced enough to know what works and what doesn’t without reading what an editor from a magazine has to say. (They are sledders just like us and form an opinion)
Many of us on this site (including myself) have tried the new Mach and all the new 06 lineup from yamaha and can form our own impression without your uninformative insight.
I have a spare 15 grand kicking around which lets me buy anything I want for the 06 offereings.. I thought of the new Mach for next season, but found it to be lacking in a few areas I grew accustom to have while currently owning a 4-stroke. Engine reliability and miles of trouble free operation on low octane fuel without sacrificing performance was key to my decision. After all I’ve owned the triple/triple mach in the past and I know Doo would give me a hell of a deal on an 06 to get me back. I also know what a motor sawed in half from a connecting rod looks like. I also know what its like to walk 5 miles in loose snow stopping every 15 minutes pulling my socks back up from being bunched up at my toes lol.
All in all the new machs are a great package and when dialed in with the right hands they are faster then the Apex on top, rightfully so with the extra 15-20 or so extra ponies. I don’t think the Apex/ Attak line from yamaha was intended to be the fastest sleds on snow. IMO they are the best sleds on snow till I see different and yes I didn’t have to read it because I tried them for myself.
Nonetheless the new mach has its hands full at drag events with the old RX-1's, Fusions and them pesky lightweight F-7s. The mighty mach will require constant tuning to prove its HP dominance while pegged as the biggest HP stock sled on snow.
Happy trails and good luck with the Mach....

Anybody ever do a comparison between engine breakdowns on Yamaha 4 strokes and the other brands? I did'nt think so

OK man! whatever you say LOL
That could be a shocking statistic! And on into the future as the 2 strokes try to run clean, less oil and leaner, that will be interesting!!Convert said:Anybody ever do a comparison between engine breakdowns on Yamaha 4 strokes and the other brands? I did'nt think so
For the first time last season riding a 4 stroke, absolutely no worries about burning a piston on a high speed lake run. Made everything way more fun

Skidoo10 is such a tool he doesn't even realize that his own posts do not support his intended point. Despite the Mach's weight and horsepower advantages it only was marginally faster than the RX in 05. That may not change with the Apex, but it looks like the performance gap has narrowed. And we'll still have the 4 stroke advantages.

Skidoo10, I can only wonder if this is your message barry. The 05's Z dependability stinks at best. The z that I rode with last year could not complete 1 200 mile day without plug issues. It got so bad I could not ask my friend to go. I enjoy riding (not repairing or questioning). Doo did a crap job on setting up the Z. I'll give up a fraction of a second for my 4 stroker any day. Think about it barry what happens at the line if you dont hook up YOU LOSE.

Most of the jerks in the mags hardly know how to setup a sled... Half the time they race a RX-1 with reverse against two stroke sleds that dont... THATS A BIG Disadvantage for the fourstroke as anyone whos anyone knows the reverse can slow a sled down by as much as 5 mph..
Like said before... we were talking 06 vs 06 sled not 05 RX-1` vers 06 skidoo.
acording to SRXSPEC, the new APEX has 8 more hp at the track! (if you didnt know thats alot) so out of the box they will be quite faster..
Personally i have never lost to any 05 F7s (the Snopro versions are very fast in stock form) or any drag races with F6s any year and was only top ended by a 03 F7 with a one inch track and clutching ( was setup by a pro lake racer)
I guess it doesnt really matter anyways because the sled who makes it threw the day and still runs wins!!

Sounds like someone's jealous or they might be 10 years old and have nothing better to do than copy and paste magazine articles. Boy you are original. Grow Up Skidoo10yearsold and go back to doo talk with the other guys worried about their mighty mach getting beat by a fat renamed RX1-ton. God you spend a lot of time here for someone that rides a Ski-Don't.
