i'm hoping to see 130+mph this yr

i ripped the sled apart this last week and i found i couple of issues. i already knew the brake rotor was warped and was grinding away at the brake caliper. the last couple of times i'd go to take off it'd wack fairly loud and i couldn't turn the track freely by hand. i still got my top speeds that day though :yam: .
when i ripped it apart i also found the clutch side axle bearing was seized and the picks have torn apart some of the tunnel. a couple of the original idler wheels were seized as well.
i fixed and replaced everything on the sled and i'm hoping for a half decent yr so i can do more speed testing on the poor old girl, lol.
i hope everyone has a good yr and i'll keep everyone posted on apex's top speeds with little modifications.
Those are some awsome speeds, for not being boosted at all, even if you have a programmer, and lid, clutching and gearing, all which we have tried in the past, and pure good ice, those numbers are soo sweet, congrates, keep it up,and you may very well see 130 like you want to see,and so do we lol.think snow, man what a green fall so far, lets all keep our fingers and toes crossed. Oh ya, Merry Christmas to everyone.

I think to many people consider what you have done means its not stock. With the mods you have, and I'm going by memory I consider it stock. My 09 LTX with just a Rami Air lid studs and DnF clutch kit I saw 117-118 gps on a plowed ice track with very little snow. I checked the distance which was under a half mile this was run and slow down area included so I'm guessing 1500 to 1800 feet for the run and I saw these speeds. When I put my stock clutching and regular lid back on I saw 114-115 gps so with a good setup track tension wheels all good and the like 110+ is within reach I'm sure. With that said if my new to me 2011 Apex SE only hits 105 on a hard pack groomed trail this year I'm gonna be some angry. I saw anywhere from 104 gps with terrible conditions for speed to 115+ gps on the groomed hard pack trails in the County of Maine so sure hope my new one can at least do the same. Jeez my Harley will peg the speedo at 120 mph in 4th gear and still got two gears left but then again its far from stock but still only 103 cu in.s

103 cu in is about 1680 cc isn't it?? Your Ricer only has a 997 cc and is stock on snow no less. Better do some more work on that Harley . [just yankin your chain]

Don't worry about that SE. The stockers are runners and the way yours is done up it should really move out.

My Bone stock 2011 SE GPS'd at 1 mph less at about 1/4 mile than my two previous sleds [now owned by friends] and both of them are Supecharged at 6 PSI. GPS registered 106 MPH. Highest GPS so far was 113 MPH on a plowed road with a slight incline.

Do you have a list of the mods you have done to the sled? What has worked the best/worst?

There's no secret to hitting 130. All you need to do is open the hood and pour in loads of cash. The more cash the faster you go. Simple.

i've made my own ram air lid, polar attac clutch, 1" track with 189 gold diggers and a 8" billet wheel kit. i lowered the front suspension and pulled the front limiter strap all the way up. i tried chaining the rear but i picked up 4mph by taking the chain off. that was with 24/38 gears.

i take the sled radar running and trail riding all the time.

this yr i've installed a 3/4" track with 243 hand sharpened studs, changed the brake rototr and changed bearings that were seized.

i've got different top gears (20,21,22,23,24) that i'm going to fool around with to see what works the best. i'll post all my results.

I will tell you one thing having over 110 hp on my Harley is more fun than you could imagine. Easily smoke the tire at will and with almost 120 ft lbs of TQ thats what its all about. My friends R6 with mods can't touch me in a straight line but corners well lets say thats a whole different ball game. Everyone around New England its time to start doing the snow dance I'm hoping to go riding on New Y :4STroke: ears day....

Hah, None of ya will top end my Mustang! LOL :tg:

It has , and will since we have overdrive , does 75mph at 2650 rpm (gps of course) and reves out at 6800
Cool! These newer car's are making some huge power now day's but I still want a big inch old thumper some day. Friend sold his early 90's Mustang with full cage and narrowed rear with a 534 inch BBF, dynoed right at 700 HP. I wanted it bad and the price was right BUT my wife wanted a new house!!!! Oh well what I have has won me a few trophie's and is a lot of fun for now.

Well do like I did and build a car for her too , wifes car is a 1966 chevelle 2dr.post 327 4speed I think I'm close to 400 horse in the chevelle and the runner has just been detuned to about 550 maybe 575 to be a little friendlier on the street.
The wife thinks it great having a mechanic for a hubby , fills her need for speed LOL
Ex ford mechanic no less , so I do a plymouth and a chev go figure LOL

I could give her the Mustang but she tends to think it's hers any way!
She has her house now so it's my turn. ;)!
