I am a little confused about it all.
On one hand I like the fact that yammie will have a good handling sled, maybe, time will tell.
Other hand, I hate the fact that Yammie is building great engines for AC.
Now to piss a few people off. Nytro's and Phazers are just BUTT FUGLY!! They do not look like sleds. More like a snowmobile had a menage-a-trois with a dirt bike and a quad. The ugly step children are the Nytros and Phazers. I am sure they are good sleds for some, but fricking ugly.
The new Vipers look like a snowmobile, and damn good looking.
The only real problem that I am scared of is quality. Look under the plastic of an AC and you will find a much lower grade of materials. The wire guage is smaller. The frame/bulkhead parts are thinner and smaller. This is what I see in all of the pics of the Viper.
This looks like the China made quads you see for sale in the farm implement stores. We all know how long that $hit lasts. How many old Cats are still on the trail? How many have we seen burned up, or even parked on the side of trails? With where I live, I cannot ride as much as most of you, and I have seen a dozen or two.
In closing my opinion, every year their are many folks disappointed, and excited. With every first year model release their are problems. Two years later they are updated and problems fixed. Just in time for people to demand a new model.
So lets just wait, keep calm, and see what the future holds.
PS-I do see humor in the fact that I suggested this emoticon- green sled with a blue helmet, lol

Is everyone missing the point with the viper.....
This is the quickest and cheepest way to make a race sled....
I guess Yamaha is tired of getting Spanked on the track, for the last decade
Also not a bad test for its customer base and Profit Margin.

Also have to agree on the ugly-ness of the two sleds.

I remember way back when people thought the '84 Phazer was ugly and ended up being the best selling sled of the '80's.
Anyhow I like the style of my Nytro. It doesn't look like anything else out on the snow. Yes it is a bit quirky, but I sort of like quirky stuff.

Mine is actually pretty decent off trail, but then again I would assume that 144" track is helping me out a bunch.

Looks cool they all have a lot of similar characteristics. Hopefully a few more hp and a little less weight. Also appears to have raised the knee area to block the wind +++ . The push button reverse is a non issue unless it shaves weight. Would almost prefer the mechanical version for less things to go wrong. 1.6 track might be killer all around. I don't have an issue with fuel. I ride with an 800 assault, 600 switchback, 800 renegade, cr 600, and I typically take 3 gallons less in the same distance traveled. The 3 gallon difference may be an extra 25 pounds of weight I could due without.
