Importing into Canada,the real cost

It going to hurt any dealer that is an hour or so drive from the border, such it is here where I am. It's not just the the purchase of the machine itself, but the parts. I saved half in every part I bought so far.

Can someone explain why the prices are so much higher in Canada? I'm in the US and don't understand this huge difference in pricing.

And our dollar is worth more now. It costs $1.05 USD to buy $1.00 CND which is why Canadians consumers are in an uproar.

Canada pricing

NOW I feel like I was beaten, rolled in doe and then raped!
How many of you South of the border bought an Apex GT in March 2007 and paid $13,300.00?
With applicable taxes that came to $15,029.00 Canadian (boy you sure got a pretty mouth) dollars.
And that was after a $1,699.00 discount from the start of season list price!

:die Canadian Market...

Chamolie, I bought a new Apex GT in march 07, and paid 10,200 US. Love the sled, but 13 14 grand, OUCH!!

but worth the money

Coming from riding doo for the last 6 years, blowing on average 2-3 engines per year because I like to ride hard, the Apex will be worth the money I paid if the engine will last. Had I of waited until now, sure I could have saved about $4000.00, but I still put over 1500 miles on the apex in march this year.
What do you pay for perfection like the Apex - priceless (compared to riding doo)

wow, i'm feelin a little sore over here guys.
i purchased late last season, feb 18/07.
2007 attak, with 4 year warranty & premium cover & first service.
taxes in (gst/pst) & all said & done $ 13795 canadian.
actual machine price was $11,300 before taxes, warranty & cover.
i felt this was a real good deal, but... i would now reconsider & go states side if i could save that much money. that $ 3000 savings would cover all the mods i'm doing right now.

i do have to admit i used the warranty, i put 1600 k's on the machine & the seat stitching started ripping out at the back, warranty no problem.
ps i'm no fat #*$&@, just ridin the thing.

over all machine is awsome, big change from my 1999 v-max 700 deluxe,
sold lt last year, 18,000 kms, never touched the motor or clutch !.

gotta love yamaha sleds :yam:

I think the old saying should hold true here. "If you can't beat them, join them."

Dealers need to realize Canadians are not stupid and don't have money trees growing in their back yards. Dealers, from what I've heard, don't make much money off the initial sale. They make it off the service.

My sled is a 2005 RX1ER which I bought in the States 3 years ago and saved back then $3,000.00. When I call a dealer to have service on it, the first thing they ask is, "where did you buy it?" When I tell them the US, you can hear it in their voice they don't want to help. Get over it. Now is the time you will start to make money off me and others. Remember, it's called Service. Start treating us like a customer now instead of a criminal.

Last year when I needed work done, I had to buy the parts from the states and do the work myself because of the tone of the dealer over the phone. If the dealer wasn't so snotty on the phone and didn't have a grudge against cross boarder shopping, he could have done all the work and started to make some money off this sled.

I wonder how many dealers are going across the boarder to buy new Plasma TV's or cars. I wonder how many dealers wives are going across the boarder next weekend during the US Thanksgiving sales to start their Christmas shopping.

It’s time to join us Dealers and start treating us better. We are not the bad people here and neither are you. It’s the Manufacturer.

Thanks you for listening to my rant on this subject,
Chris
