Installed them yesterday. Very quick and easy to do. Can't wait for snow.
I need to add the proper sized socket for the inside to my Christmas list. Pain in the #*$&@ using a crescent wrench! Can someone tell me the size I need.

1-1/16in. open end wrench is what I always used. If you get a 27mm socket it cant have the hex with chamfer on the end since the nut is so thin the chamfer doesnt allow good contact. Open end wrench is nice and flat so you get full contact and can position it so it is resting on rail or track so you can use two hands on bolt at least for initial loosening and final torque.

I ordered up a 1 1-16 for my 2014 xtx and it is way too big...looks like 7/8 is closer to the right size. You might want to double check depending on model and year.


Can you take a picture of it? Surprised they would change that and at 7/8in don't see how it would even hold. ahhh...I was talking about the wrench needed to change the torsion spring pressure from soft to medium to hard...7/8 seems best, but I don't have a similar size metric to test. Need to find that out because the last time I needed to change them I had to use a crescent and nearly ruined the rubber material on the bolt head.


Oh! I highly recommend the aluminum replacement for those adjusters. They do strip very easily. Helps to have someone lift backend or track stand before adjusting though.

Excellent mod. I love it. Bottoming out is nearly non existent, skid travel is much more linear and smooth. A total must for taking a passenger.

A week ago I put the hygear torsion spring spacers, star kit, and the aluminum preload cams from star. World of difference with the sag issue and the stiffness in the rear end.....obviously I haven't been able to ride it but I bet it'll be worth every penny spent. Anyways those preload cams have 5 settings on them gives you a lot more adjustments plus they're a lot more durable then the stock plastic ones to change. I think I bought them for $85. Something to look into if you want to be super picky about your ride!
