Hey TY
Just thought I'd re-introduce myself. I havn't been a member here since 08' but use the site religously mainly for the "outstanding" knowledge you all have of Yamaha snowmobiles.
I'm Canadian and work at Windsor assembly Plant "home of the mini-van" as a maint. supervisor.
Right now I ride a Nytro xTx and is the best sled I've owned to date. Not the fastest but the best. My srx would kick it's #*$&@ all day long.
I have three boys. The oldest works out west (Calgary). The youngest races go karts on a 1/8 mile oval dirt track and the middle wild child races moto-cross. Yes, on a Yamaha yz250f.
I've been around sleds my whole life learning on a then new, 71' ski-doo Olympic.
99% of my riding is saddle tours and not uncommon to be on the sled 10 hrs a day logging big and fast miles around 3500 to 4000/yr. I consider myself an aggresive rider, balls out most of the time. Bagging through northern Ont you have to be to get to the next town before the dark comes in fear of hitting the loose moose which I have done once and two other close calls. Past couple seasons I have been favoring the UP over northern Ont. It's harder to ride big miles per day in the UP but the atmospher, places and people make the trade off worth it.
Sleds over the years:
1. 1971 Olympic
2. 1978 Olympic
3. 1978 340 RV. At 16 years old I thought I was the bomb.
4. 1986 ski-doo Formula MX.
5. 1987 Exciter (finally a Yamaha) twin psi pipes etc. Rode it 1/2 mile after mod work was done and some drunk wiped me and it out outside the Elbow Lake Bar as I was doing a plug check after a short lake blast. Sled wrote off and a Broken wrist. He was in a coma for some time I heard.
6. 1990 Mach 1. (brain fart)
7. 1997 Yamaha sx 700.
8. 2001 srx. Fastest sled I've owned to date. Bender Bender Bender! Sled almost got me divorced.......twice! Alot of success on the grass in some low key events here in Ontario. On the snow the fastest radar speeds i reached was 118mph. Tried 3 times in a row that day to get 118.1 but couldn't.
9. 2003 RX-1. Bulkhead city. Broke two of them before blowing the mighty Genisis motor to bits chasing down a 800 Rev. Just after I caught and passed him the rod exited the bottom of the motor. 3000KM's.
10. Another 03' RX-1. Bought it for the motor but it had reverse and all it was missing was the skid and in perfect shape with less miles for the same money I was going to pay for just a motor. MI man running an ins. scam claiming it was bent and wrote it off. Rode it for two seasons before giving it to my wife.
11. 2006 Apex. Loved it. First sled I ever left stock other than bling.
12. 2009 Nytro xTx. Like I mentioned earlier. Best sled I've owned for my riding style. No complaints other than the usual set up quercks, skiis, suspension settings etc. Broke the rear shock last season. $747 lunch stop in Ishpeming but up and running in under 2 hrs.
Honourable mentions: Yamaha outboard on the pontoon boat and son races a Yamaha yz250f dirt bike and if Yamaha made trucks I'd have one of them to even as a Chrysler employee.

That's it I guess, didn't mean to ramble on and bore everyone I just love talking about snowmobiles.

welcome back to the site nice get to know you post i enjoyed reading it.

Great Personal history story, Looks like your getting smarter as you get older. (LOL) All Yamaha's
Welcome Back!

Welcome back!...and you didn't bore me love hearing sled stories of all nature year 'round.

Welcome back to the site. ;)!

Thanks guys and good to be back. I did forget to mention a couple past sleds:
1994 V-max 600. I used part of our wedding money to buy it. I don't suggest doing this.
1983 ski-doo Skandic was my gramps. I restored it in memory of him and currently trying to buy if back from same guy I sold it to.

Welcome back. I am originally from Windsor myself and headed west for work. My father was an employee at Fords before his plant closed.
