Last season I studded my Attak with 108 studs with the typical center V pattern. This year I plan on adding a clutch so I want to add additonal studs for a better hock-up. Is it possible to upgrad to 168 with the pattern I currently have without messing anything up?

Depending on where, you can add a row of picks in the center, or you can stud the outer belts. I recommend studding the outer belts as it will improve your handling, and traction tremendously.

If you add more weight to the center, you will have to be very meticulous about track tension, to the point where you have to make trail-side adjustments, as you could end up trashing your heat-shield and/or die-cast bracket.

I dont like sudding the outside belts.. I feel it hurts turning ability.. but it probobly would aid in strait line acceleration.. (not to mention the outsides are the weak spots of the track most likely to tear out)

I would just add more studs offset from the center.

I always stud the outside, and as far as adding more studs, you can really add whatever you want, or make a little bit different pattern, i know lots of guys who always design their own pattern, as for me i have a few templates, so i just go off of those.

You want to go with 162 or 198 with the Attak not 168. 168 is for the 121" track. I always stud the outside also. I talked with a tech at Woody's before I studded and asked about studding on the outside. He informed me that studding the outer belt used to be a concern with the older tracks but the new tracks can handle it without a problem. He suggested a 144 stud pattern with single and double backers. I decided on the 168 single for ease of installation. If you want expert advice call Woody's they should be able to help you choose a pattern best suitable for your applicaton. (989) 689-4911.
