I've got an 08 Nytro MTX which I'll be running 12lbs boost on a NW turbo kit with no headshim at 1800 ft elevation most of the time. I do occassionally travel to Revy, Valemount etc.

Now is an A/F ratio gauge required? These motors are fuel injected and I should never run into a lean condition, should I?
With 12lbs boost, the stock fuel system and fuel injection should be able to keep a safe fuel mixture?

I do want to install one but I don't think I'll have time before I have a trip planned to Revy. I'm just wondering if I'll be safe.

Thanks.

Yep, your going to want to have one.. If your A/F ratio is too lean your first trip could be very expensive...
On another note: I'm assuming your going to be running race fuel with stock compression, 1800ft elev & 12 lbs... right?

Yep, I'll be running a race fuel.

It doesn't matter a tiny bit wheter your sled is a EFI sled if the AFRs are off, bye-bye engine.

AFR and Boost meters are MANDATORY in any boosted vehicle.

if you are spending the money on a turbo and race fuel, an a/f gauge should not even be an issue, and it is needed.

I realize running lean will cook your motor. If your fuel system is up to par, what will cause an EFI motor to go lean? Bad sensor(s)? Fuel pump?
Plugged injector?
And I do have a boost gauge.

Price isn't the issue, time is. I wouldn't buy a turbo sled and cheap out on gauges. I'll just have to get my #*$&@ in gear and get her installed before Revy.
I don't feel like losing a motor by running it blind. ;)!
