Is clutching pointless??

Guys this is the main reason yamaha, and many other manufacturers, run higher gear ratios, and mild clutching, for fuel milage, and once again, yamaha comes out on top, those big flat profile weights yamaha has been using in there 4-smokes sense 03 has alot to do with the good fuel milage. most all stockers build rpms from engagement,to 9800 rpms, but than take a while to achieve full shift rpms,to the 10,500 to 11,000 that some shift to,on good going, and they are not snappy from corner to corner,so most of us,opt for a quicker acting profile, that ramps up much sooner, but still has some of the stock shift chariteristics, wow bad spelling again, sorry.

You hit the ball out of the park. For the guy's running stock weights try a little stiffer primary spring. Stock Apex, P-S-P primary spring, back off the secondary 10*. If your running lots of pics run a white secondary spring. Cheap kit that will piss your bud off that spent $300 on a kit he can't get dialed in.
Absolutely right brother,i now have a g-g-g with some old dalton turbo weights,i ground down, and they work perfect, and i modified my secondary just a little too. lol

Never seen many people talking about or using the pink-silver-pink spring? Racer secret maybe? And white set at 60?

Crap, I meant to say G-G-G primary. The P-S-P is a little to stiff for trail riding.

DO NOT GET A HAUK KIT!!!

With that statement you will need to explain yourself.

:letsnow:
My cuz had an apex and dropped $3,000 to hauk to get an arse kicker.
Exhaust Intake Clutching and programmer put it all on and stock apexes would beat him. Took the clutch kit off and put stock back in then he noticed a little improvement from stock form.
Another Guy i ride with has a phazer and did the same stuff and got absolutly no gains.
AKA JUNK

I have run hauck stuff before, and same results, and i even had my owne clutching, his stuff IMO does not work, but good clutching and gearing does.

X3 on the Hauck stuff, the man was a 'master' on 2 stroke/SRX stuff, but seems to be just 'winging it' on the 4 strokes...

I'm not happy with my 07 Stock Attak's clutching. What I don't like is when I slow down to almost a stop or turn then accelerate again it rev's up then catches. Is this normal or is there something I can do? I'm happy with it other then that. It's just the lag until the clutches mate up again.

Green -Green -green correct the long spring with 60 twist? does that work on LTX apex as well?
Thanks Blue

Not a clutch guy but maybe a softer primary spring?

Well I am going to run the sled for a couple rides and see how it does with the top gear being dropped a tooth with the new track. After that I will decide.

But keep discussing it has been some good reading.

Well my previous statement about riding it first might have been a little premeture. Long story short I sold a lawn mower and now have the extra $$$ for clutches.

Hey Super
You said in another post that the Super Rats with black Heel Clicker spring was currently one of the top setups right now. Did you mean for the Nytro or for both the Nytro and the Apex?
