I went from an 09 Apex LTX (which I use for a back up) to a 18 sidewinder 50th LE. Hands down a far superior sled in all categories, providing you take the time to set up the suspension to your weight and riding style. Although my sled is now tuned I rode the first season in stock form. When switching back to the Apex back to back it feels like ancient technology, seating position, power, etc.

Buying a new sled is always a good move. You get the newest in technology, major upgrades in suspension, clutching,
handling, etc. 11 years difference is a long time in the snowmobiling world. Granted, they still have shortfalls, as does any new product of any kind. Your APEX has the DELTA-BOX chassis which was the greatest thing out at the time. The merger with ARCTIC CAT was a win win for both companies. CATS always handled very well, and YAMAHA has the best engines in the industry, bar none!!!. I rode CATS for 30 years, when the RX-1 came out I bought one. Since then I have bought six more YAMAHA’S. I currently still own four, including an 11 VECTOR LTX GT, 14 SR VIPER LTX-LE, an 18 SR VIPER LTX DX, and a 19 SIDEWINDER LTX DX. I almost pulled the trigger on a 20 SIDEWINDER LTX GT but decided to wait and see what 21 is going to bring. My 19, is the same as the 20, just a different color. Do your self a favor and step up, you won’t regret it!! Just my 2 cents worth.

Every time I’ve upgraded I think “why didn’t I do this sooner”. Except for the nytro I owned but I totaled it before I had a chance to mess with it much. Insurance paid me well enough to buy a turbo apex and a new lawnmower so it worked out. First ride on my new winder and I thought I should have done that switch years ago.

The only issues I've had with my Viper are Yamaha related and caused by a previous half-#*$&@ repair (starter gear chunks were left in oil pan and took out the Stator) Best front suspension on the market, hands down! I've got the XTX so the Rear is OK but My Phazer's rear skid is better (but 15# heavier, weighed both)
