After installing the freshly cleaned carbs that I had set the pilot screws all to 2 1/4 turns back from the seated position I started my 07 venture up with a few shots of gas in the carbs. Once it was able to run on its own I shut it down and installed the air box. I started it right back up and let it go through it's warm up period. I then set the idle to aprox 1100 rmp and gave the machine a few light shots of gas on and off noticing some back fires here and there. After about 5 minutes or so any missfires seemed to have vanished and the machine seems to be running just fine with great throttle response. Is it normal for it to back fire here and there when you have freshly cleaned carbs? And then for it to vanish?

Now if I could only get rid of the damn annoying clutch rattle??? :die

I have cleaned my carbs but never had a backfire ... Funny I have the same sled but don't have a clutch rattle... I take my clutchs apart every fall and clean them up but never a problem with them..

My sled did a few times but it was so feint that it was barely noticable and it went right away. The idle is a little off and I'm almost positive its just the carbs out of sync and I have a carb sync tool on its way. I'm going to check things out more tonight and take it around the yard now that we finally have enough snow.

I don't know if its the same as us RX1/APEX 4 holer guys but if our IDLE is to low we tend to get RATTLING sounds from our gear reduction & clutch! we have to set-it 1500rpm's or higher and ratle vanishes...

"TrailxRider" also brought up a good point, you might be out of SYNC! and will also amplify clutch RATLE!
