Since the snow is gone here in New England, I am working on customizing a Doo luggage rack/backrest for my Attak. I noticed when I took the seat off that it is only hitting the tunnel in the center. It is designed to ride on two pads on either side of the center pad which rides on the exhaust.
As you can see in the pictures, mine was only hitting on the exhaust and there is potential to "tighten up" your seat by putting a thin pad on both of these side pads of the seat. I am shimming mine up about 3/8" to accomodate the rails for the rack under the seat, but I believe that you can tighten up your seat by just adding those pads on the sides.
Of course, if you have snow, you are probably just riding the hell out of your sled and don't have time to tinker!!!
Think Snow!!!!!!!!!

I have the same issue with my Attak, I posted the same question about a week ago on this site it it seems as though plenty of other people have the same problem with the seat shifting from side to side. Before I start trying to fix it myself I will let the dealer take a wack at it when I bring it in for the 500 mile check up---if you find any hints on how to tighten it up let me know because I am at a loss myself.
My seat wasn't loose, per se. But I only have 100 miles on.
I am sure that you can make it more stable by adding about 1/4 of shim under those outer pads. Then the seat will hit the tunnel at more points.

Side to side movement of seat
I have some side-to-side movement of the seat on my Apex at the front near the fuel tank.
Anything to remove the "looseness"? Front to back seems fine. Just figure if left loose over time, could cause more problems.

Guys..we noticed this last season...Im not sure i like the shimming idea as you will now see a possible GAP where seat sits ontop of tunnel...i dont think this will look to good...maybe you can post pics when its ON SLED to show us how it looks from side..
what I did......
I felt the reason it shifted side to side was that the two plastic ears were not sitting tightly...
I simply got some electrical tape..and wrapped both the plastic EARS many many times....this THICKENNED the size of each ear.....
then when i SLID seat back under the tank, the EARS fit tightly...this took away ALL the side to side shifting...the seat still is VERY TIGHT to tunnel as normal.
the key here is to wrap the proper amount of tape around ears...the first time i didnt do enough and it was still loose...so i did more till it felt nice and tight...
simple fix but it worked for me.

WOW Dan you have waay too much time on your hands!! You must sit in bed at night just thinking of things you can do on your sled. I like your ideas even the one about putting the felt under the screws on your windshield but I'm not that dedicated. I think if you worked for the engineering department at Yamaha all their sleds would be perfect but none of us would be able to afford themmachzed said:Guys..we noticed this last season...Im not sure i like the shimming idea as you will now see a possible GAP where seat sits ontop of tunnel...i dont think this will look to good...maybe you can post pics when its ON SLED to show us how it looks from side..

Velcro , no I am not kidding. Put two strips on each side of tunnel, ending about where large pop rivet heads are in front of can hear shield. Excell sends a couple pieces with their exhaust kits, I am a Large fellow and with our tight windy trails have no issues with seat moving.

LOL....yah i guess im alittle ANAL about things that should be right...hehe.
the tape i used was a 2 inch wide electrical(vinyl) tape.....Ive seen duct tape after a few yrs lose its stickyness and even delaminate....so i chose the vinyl.
it seemed to take out the "play".
