Alright now on to these bearings. I replaced all of these 2 years ago and used the allballs brand. They do not have the rubber seals like the stock ones did. These have a metal cover and I poked around a bit and ended up putting a dent in the one, so I quit messing. Can these metal seal covers be replaced with the old rubber ones? I always cleaned out and re-greased every year and now it appears that I can't without screwing up the seal. Also wondering how long will the bearings last if they don't get regreased.

I don't sell the all balls for this reason. I wouldn't be too concerned about jackshaft bearing. It's the speedo pick up bearing that gets the abuse from water and snow. I have ntn Japan speedo bearings in stock with rubber seal if you opt to replace it.

If the Speedo bearing is sealed on both sides, is it still going to be affected by the elements? If so I want to replace. Is it just the clutch side you are referring to or both clutch and chain case?

just clutch side for early wear due to water intrusion and the seals wont stop the water.

O.k. but you think the upper one will be good for another year, or should I just do it too? When I cleaned the originals, they both were like dry dirt. That's why I'm concerned. But it's an 06 and I didn't know if they last for 3 or 4 years, then start getting leaky tho let dirt in.

the upper should be good for 4000 plus miles the lower is able to get contaminated and needs service yearly to be sure it is safe if you cant get in to see it you may be in for a break down during peak season.
