I have an 06 Attak, bought it March of last season and have almost 1000 miles on already. They are a solid machine and with basic mechanical know how can be made run a very long time by replacing the wear items on an as needed basis but this is cheap compared to pistons, cranks, and jugs on a 2 smoke. My favorite thing about these is WOT pulls from corner to corner on the groomed trails, awesome sound, reliability and excellent fuel mileage. I removed the 2 inner baffles in my exhaust can for a little more growl over stock and it sounds like an F1 racer! There is a good step by step thread on here if you are interested. But don't worry about a whole bunch of mods in the middle of winter....JUST RIDE AND ENJOY for now! Congrats, I wish I could have found the GT Attak when I was shopping for one but they are harder to come by....

I'm interested in the baffle delete you mention. In addition to a more aggressive sound, does it help the 30-40 drone? Regardless, thanks for pointing me towards this mod.I have an 06 Attak, bought it March of last season and have almost 1000 miles on already. Sorry I cannot provide you with the link but if you search "exhaust" I'm pretty sure you will find it eventually, it is an older post. I believe you will get the drone if you gut the entire can but all I did was remove the 2 small pipes in the center...honestly, I don't notice any annoying drone with mine. Its a free mod providing you have the tools to do it with. I used an angle grinder with a cut off wheel to open up the can, and a reciprocating saw to cut out the inner pipes. I do not have a welder so I got a friend to weld the outer shell back together for me.

is this your first 4-stroke? you'll love the Apex and i came from an SRX. if it is and i know the engine braking was mentioned but when coming into the corners stay on the throttle, don't back all the way off and when coming to a stop, keep the revs up a little as you apply the brake, especially if you're standing. i almost went over the top a few times until i got use to staying on the throttle. took a few rides to get use to it and my sled has a lot less engine braking then yours. i thought i had made a mistake buying it when i first got it. not to mention the suspension wasn't set up the way i like it either.one thing you'll notice is that you won't use the brake much when you're riding

Thanks, I also ride 4-stroke Ventures but only have 500 miles on those. I know its not nearly the same machine but I'm familiar. As far as the engine braking into corners, I appreciate the tip. I've always been a rider that rarely uses my brake...drives the guys behind me nuts sometimes...however I think they ride more cautiously that way and when they finally see my brake, they know to grab theirs quick.is this your first 4-stroke? you'll love the Apex and i came from an SRX. if it is and i know the engine braking was mentioned but when coming into the corners stay on the throttle, don't back all the way off and when coming to a stop, keep the revs up a little as you apply the brake, especially if you're standing. i almost went over the top a few times until i got use to staying on the throttle. took a few rides to get use to it and my sled has a lot less engine braking then yours. i thought i had made a mistake buying it when i first got it. not to mention the suspension wasn't set up the way i like it either.one thing you'll notice is that you won't use the brake much when you're riding
In my invincible days, I rode an 04 SX Viper S and rode it hard. I smiled on that sled a lot, however it almost almost killed me in the twisties one day...my bad. For some reason the good Lord decided to keep me around that day.
Anyway, I'm a lot smarter now and know I will have to be on the Attak.

This one had reverse but would have loved Estart. They were actually easier to cold start than warm start...strange. Anyway, pull starting that -18 F morning was tough.nice viper, always like those limited editions with the ohlins

try starting an SRX at -45*C. that's how cold it was last year in Owen Sound, Ontario. i had to remove the plugs (actually did that to both our 2 strokes) and get it turned a few times to loosen it up, then it fired right up. we had a group of 8 of us, all yamaha's, 2 smokes and 4 strokes and everyone of us had them running in no time. some others folks at the motel weren't so lucky. seen some other brands with hoods open and they weren't able to get them started.
did you keep that Viper S?

I had one of those too with a Hauck 780 kit....It was a fun sled but the 8 MPG was not so much fun.

A twisty turn took it from me. Insurance auctioned it and I could have bought it at the auction price. I probably should have and parted it out for twice the auction price.
