Hi Guys,

Broke my jackshaft last night, boy am I pleased with Yamaha. According to previous discussions, my Vector was due for the replacement... VIN 0008818-005747. Unfortunately for me, I assumed they would have told me about this when the CDI and Clutch was fixed. Since they did not mention it, I thought it was not required. Had to tow the sled 20 km's to nearest road, then travel 160kms to get it. So is there any chance of other damages as a result of the broken jackshaft? Does anybody have a copy of the notice to confirm the above serial numbers?

This is a serious safety issue, when this shaft breaks you have no brakes! Lucky for me I was not travelling a high speed at the time of the break.

I was a true Yamaha customer, can't say I am any more. First the Tors issue last year, which was annoying as hell. Track noise, ice buildup, clutch noise, CDI, Jackshaft....Now that's Quality!!!!!!!

Sorry for complaining but I am very upset with Yamaha.

I know it doesnt help, but I feel very badly for you. THankfully you weren't hurt..thats the main thing. Also sucks about the tow job too.

Sorry to hear about your troubles!

I would be more upset with your dealer. While the RS sleds have a few problems, Yamaha has been very good to address them all.

Hope your back on the trails soon!

Everybody here in scandinavia have been contacted by their dealers on these 3 fixes for the RS's.

Haven't heard about anything else, or read about bad service from dealers over here in our forums...

Fell sorry for you guys that have dealers that dont bother...

Here are the serial numbers for the recall. The rage with last 6 numbers between 003329 - 004263. The vector between 005128 - 006425.

Jack Shaft

We religiously take our sleds into the dealer prior to the season for a once over. I'm not that mechanically inclined nor do I have the time. He told us about the jack shaft recall and replaced the one in the Rage since it fell in the VIN range but our Vector did not. He also replaced both CDI's and did something else to quite the clutch. Yamaha is the best but it also helps to have a dealer who stands behind the product and is proactive with his rep. He replaced the jack shaft prior to the bulletin even making it to the dealers because he called his rep to find out about any impending recalls. This is why I buy from him, he's the greatest.
