OK guys..........Talked to my dealer

I asked him about a service bulliten on my vector.. He told me about the three we have talked about..

#1 The clutch rattle.. I was going to let that go but he said they would do it. :?

#2 The cdi unit..

#3 The jackshaft... Hmmmmmmmm.

I hate taking my sled to "ANY" dealer.. BUT I guess I'd better.. So here's my question.. How complicated are these fixes? Please tell me that they won't need to remove the engine........


Here is a thought... Do you guys think part of the track noise issues we have are being caused by the jackshaft bearing??? Think about it.. Mine was very quiet for the first 500 miles.. Any thoughts???? :ORC MM.

It seems that they made a bad batch of jackshafts. If it bent, that could definitely cause a nasty vibration. Note that the vibration would be audible at between 0 and 8 khz (depending on how fast you're going).

Now as for the complexity of these repairs, no, the engine does NOT need to be removed. The CDI is under the airbox, nice and accessible and the clutch can be popped off really easily to be worked on. The nasty one to work on is the jackshaft. That requires disassembly of the chaincase. After you get it back, make sure to monitor the chaincase oil in case it leaks. It will most likely be fine, but sometimes the seal can get pinched and leak.

It wuold be great, but I doubt it. My Vector has impressive track noise but was not in the serial number range for the jackshaft problem, which is a small number of sleds, I understand.

Hi guys,
i had both the jackshaft and the code 84 job done last week. I could not wait for the sled to be serviced and once i came back, i figured that a new bearing is not part of the procedure (i sure would have paid for it having known)

As for the code 84, i had the problem only once, job done too.

As for the clutch noise, nothing was done since i am using the O-ring kit for 1300 Km (900 Miles).. and the noise is back again... not as bad thought. Before, i used the shim kit, which lasted quitely for over 2500 miles.

Mine isn't in the range either, so I doubt it. Although it is an annoying reverberation, I'm starting to think that there is no fix for it on these chassis.

Correct me if I am wrong, but wont the test be to see if there is the same track noise on the 06, seeing as how it has the MONO? The reason I say this is because I havent heard of anyone complain of these problems on the 05 rx1... but I could be wrong..

Good point. But if it is gone on the '06, is it due to the completely different design of the skid or just one part of the design that we can adapt to the Pro Active chassis? Like maybe different idler wheel position/ composition, etc.

A lot of us do not want to buy a new sled or skid to quiet our '05's down, we want a simpler fix that would not involve changes of this extent..

Ask the dealer when you are dropping it off. He should have that information.
