Joining the FXNYTRO club....WOOO

To compare the "Apples to Apples", i did a little research. All prices were as quoted from a dealer in Kalispel MT

US Nytro RTX MSRP 10399.00
y bucks -300.00
freight 229.00
setup 310.00
doc fee 149.00
riv fee 200.00
10987.00
x 1.13
12415.31

CAN Nytro RTX MSRP 13499.00
y bucks -500.00
rebate -900.00
12100.00
x 1.13
13673.00

a whopping difference of $1257.69 bucks. Now taking into consideration the extra warranty value of 550.00 a year through YPP, we are far closer than you think. I can only speak for my self when i say id probably throw in a free belt, cover, and loyal customer service like we do on all our deals. Im not saying you couldnt get a better price us or canadian, but if someone gave us a chance, we would make every effort to keep a canadian our customer.

P.S. Good luck with that 9/10 statistic on avoiding the duty, id say its closer to 50/50 based on the customs agents we have spoken with.

I would also agree with shaunone on the customs. With my experience as well, I would guess maybe more of a 60/40 shot. If a person is going to make a sale on anything, they may feed you all the nice things you want to hear, it's a business and it makes anyone feel good to hear about saving a buck.....until you're out the door. I don't want to sound like I''m swayng anyone or it isn't a good idea, but you really have to think about any purchase that may have a red flag attached to it later. Not sure what dealers in Canada are still saying about warranties as well, as they were saying no way a couple months back, but that's another topic. I would also check with ICBC in B.C about insurance, since it is a regulated item with Transport Canada, it could get into issues regarding inspection etc. It's like anything electric , as items marketed in Canada have a CSA approval.
I would like to hear of anyone in western Canada that has brought a new sled back, and registered and insured it here, what (if any) issues thy were faced with, including warranty/recall items. For all the hassle, I made a smokin deal, plus a new cover, handlebar bag and delivered 275 miles towards my home (met him 1/2 way), plus the $500 in Yamacash yet to spend.

thanks for the concern guys........but like i said the deal has allready been done with the dealership as well as with the loan with the bank.......i dont have the time to go rework the loan on days off even if i were to find a better deal in canada.

right now i just want to pick up the sled and get on er hard as soon as possable

soooooo I finally went and picked my baby up today. Everthing went pretty good as far as crossing the boarder and getting all the exporting taken care off. I didn't end up paying duty on the sled which was a nice surprise. I ended up paying 10300 canadian with the g.s.t and the 200 dollar import fee.

Damn this sled looks even better in person..........i'll have some pictures and a ride report posted up sometime monday. Theres a couple feet of snow at the ski hill so im gonna go play around and break er in a bit on sunday.

The first thing I noticed on this sled compared to my old heavy RX-1 is the weight.......holy crap, it would usually take me a good hard pull to get my rx-1 on one ski on flat ground..........I can practically pull this nytro over with one hand. I can only imagine how she is gonna handle in the powder!!!

well i got to take the nytro out finally. I only got to put a few miles on it, as of now it has 21 miles, in relitivly crappy snow conditions. The ski hill had a good dump of 2-3 feet but then it rained right after, soo decent base but really crusty.

first impressions of this sled were WOW!! coming from the Rx-1 to the Nytro is a huuge difference, it feels way more powerfull, and obviously a hell of a lot lighter. The suspension is definitly going to have to be played around with, i weigh just shy over 200 without gear and i was bottoming out pretty good on few sections and a couple little jumps. I love the menoverability of this sled, even in the crusty snow it turns and gets up on one ski without any problem, and barely any effort. The track was great for the first 10 miles then i noticed the softness of these maverick tracks.......but i figure reversing the track will make a world of difference.
The skis like everyone else has noticed definitly dart a little bit and take a little bit of arm strength to keep in a straight line, but considering i will hardly ever be doing any trail riding i think the skis will be fine for the mountain riding i will be doing.

Hopefully in a couple more weeks when im down for christmas there will be a decent amount of snow for me to really get a feel for how this sled is. Otherwise as of now i am more than impressed for a sled that is right outta the crate. I knew i would have to play around with a few things here and there, and i dont find that much of a problem at all.

Im just uploading a couple movies that i had filmed onto youtube right now. They are defenitly nothing special, but it shows me getting a feel for her. I'll post up the web address when they are done uploading
