Yeah right, Yam can't make a chassis, and your answer is to throw big money at the lowest quality sled out there. Albert Einstein jr? You'll see soon enough but I'm sure no admissions will be forthcoming.

This is a little overboard boys. Lets keep this civil, like it started.

Well sorry guys didn't want this thread going this way I just wanted to be 100% honest with you. Im not saying Arctic Cat is any better than Yamaha I just thought it was time for a change. I will be the first to admit it if this thing dont perform to my expectations. Its under full warranty so im not really worried. Anyways im outta here and im sorry if I hurt a few of you with my statements just speaking the truth.

All sled have there problems. You can have two same sleds side by side and will run like a champ and have no mechanical problems and not have a lick of problems and the other one will never leave the trailer. Good luck to ya rx1warrior!

Thanks Guys.... will post some info on new sled after a few rides. And the comments about being stranded on a yammy, just wait till your $400 W arm breaks at 90 mph and takes out track,w arm and transfer rod to the tune of $2000 . Changed umpteen idler wheels, froze my paws, Had to put up with track ratcheting, broke drive shaft and changed sliders twice oh and exhaust donuts leaking like a siv. all in 4500 miles. ! Yamaha has the best powerplant I have ever owned by FAR just a shame they can't make a chassis. :rocks:

You are correct, these are all very real issues.

On mine I fixed:

The Cold grips
Designed & Built the YAMAHEATER, Warm Now!
Very Happy.

Rear Suspension
(Re-inforced stock one, then put in an SC-10 III, very happy)

Fast wearing sliders
(Re-located wheels on stock skid, then put in new skid, both worked well)

Track ratcheting
Installed Doo extrovert drivers, problem solved.

Idler wheels
Throw the stock ones away, get kimpex, Cat, Doo, or Poo wheels.
(Updated ones are good also)

Have had, and have addressed and fixed every issue you have had, except for the drive shaft. Haven't had that issue. (Yet?)
Figure the engine is good enough to actually have something to build around.
Kinda like having a solid foundation on a building.
The entire building is worthless without a solid foundation to sit on.

I love my sled!
It starts every single time I want it to.
Have over 10,000 miles without a single engine issue.
That alone is worth a great deal to me.
In fact, any sled that doesn't run on a trip is worthless, and should be considered a fire hazard. lol

My last 2 Cats were re-built at least 4 times each (After blowing up) and NEVER made it to 10,000 miles.
(I got sick of them letting me down, rebuilding them, & got rid of them.)
Broke many parts on them also, just hated engines that go BOOM!!!

My point is, there are solutions out there, wish we didn't have to do them, but we do.
The quality of the engine Definitely makes it worth it to me, by far.

Hope all goes well with your new sled, let us know!
(And over time & miles, not just the first impression. lol)

Rockmeister :-o

Trust me it's on the back burner!!

Ok guys you told me to come back here and give you all a honest review of my new sled compared to my old Attack. This is 100% accurate so here goes,

bought a 2007 Attack and put on 4000 miles and broke a whole lot of parts and was always needing maintenace so I sold it and replaced with a new Cat Z1 turbo. You can read my earlier post regarding my repairs to the attack in 2 years of owning it.
Bought used low miler z1 turbo put 200 miles on it blew belt went back to cat they replaced it free said it musta been a flawed belt. Put a new 1 on and went about 250 miles belt blew again. Started to read up on it and seemed to be a common problem and the fix was to shim motor and align clutches. So I did that then I purchased a boondocker hijacker and turned up hp to 210 evrything else is stock. Here's the repair bills total for the whole season of 2800 miles 1 belt $90 and hijacker was $1000, no wheels,no bearings,no sliders, no cracked rails,no exhaust donuts,no track clips missing,no cracked w arms, no broken transfer rods and no cold hands!

Now for the review of sled !

Now that the belt issue is fixed this sled out write rocks! This motor has gobs of power and beats up on apexs quite easy. Top speed gps was 124 mph. The z1 rides and handles way better than the old yamaha sucking up the biggest of bumps with no bottoming out. I get a honest 13 miles per gallon at 210 hp so it's about the same as apex was. I've run this thing at 280hp set on the hijacker with c16 and it just flys ! Fit and finish is so so not up to the yamaha as it seems the panels are to flimsy and not aligned properly. Biggest thing I miss about the attack is the sound, this z1 turbo has the worst sounding exaust note I've ever heard.

So guys I am not brand loyal as I've owned all makes and the only sled I'll never buy again is a ski- doo. So guys I'm sorry if I had to pick either a apex or a Z1 turbo to own hands down it's the cat! Still love reading Ty forums!

Tks Warrior for the Honest feedback,Glad you are riding what suits you,So this Hijacker im ignorant to the Cat side so forgive me ,this highjacker box boosts the power from 177 to 280 ??? it adjusts boost i assume again sorry but not up to snuff on this Brand

Think Snow!!!!!!!!!

Yes Muskoka it basically is a fuel management box and boost controller thats plug and play then set hp and go. Anything over 220 hp needs higher octane like c12 or c16 fuel. To bad season was so short her was having a blast!

PLEASE report back next year!!! I'm selling my Apex soon & would like to buy new sled for 2011 & 2012 season. I'm open to everything & listening to everyone. I want to listen to non-brand loyal people like you & me. I also had tons of problems, but best friend hasn't had any issues until this years radiator clips broke. I used to search on-line to find out what was going to break next. PLEASE post next year. Maybe AC worked out some the bugs...

Write back when you have 4k or 6 K on it..

I got 6 K and only y pipes needed.

m
