We have two RX-1s which have the positive and negative remote battery cables coming out so that you can easily attach a battery tender without taking the air box off to get to the battery.
Questions:
1) Will it hurt anything to jump a battery on one RX-1 from the other by connecting the jumper cables from one RX-1s remote battery cables to the other RX-1s remote battery cables?
2) Since the positive and negative remote cables are very close together, what would happen if the negative and positive clamps touched one another?
This happened to us and they sparked and we quickly disconnected the cables..........but my concern is will this damage either battery or anything else in the RX-1s electrical systems? Am I correct to assume that a fuse would blow before any damage was done?
I charged mine all summer by those leads with no problems. I'm not sure if they have a fuse may be hard wired right to the battery. I pull the negative out of the holder and move it over a few inches so there is no chance of the two touching.
we use those leads all the time. they are dirrectly connected to the battery. when the stator went out on one of our vectors i rode home 20 miles with a pair of modified jumper wires with booster battery on the runningboards. at one of our warm up shacks the solar charged batteries died so they rigged a single 12volt light on an extension cord outside to a set of small aligator clips. battery would run that light for 3 hours and still start the sled. when boosting a sled take caution and put a glove or touque between the two leads
