IF you own a RX-1 or WARRIOR.. do not test ride a APEX OR APEX GT/RTX!
If you sold your RX-1 to your buddy or brother.... dont let them test ride an APEX..
I have had TWO 04 RX-Warriors and added a 13mm swaybar- C@A pro skis (8 inch carbides)and an ECP KIT and BBY's clutching and they were nothing short of awsome.. IMO..
But having just put on 276 miles on my new 06' apex GT... around the crapy trails by my house i must say one thing....
THE APEX IS WWWWWAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAYYYYYY BETTER... its like having a F7 that handles like a ZR... with a JET Motor in it... It feels like someone took the boat ancher off the back of the old fourstroke!!
I really cant complain about the GT at all... Out of the box it is just plain awsome... Ya, i could probobly make it handle even better with a set of GOOD skis... but really it handles geat with the crappy OEM ones.. and maybe the rear spring could be a little stiffer to keep it from bottoming... But it really rides AWSOME!! And the Grips could work better (im sure Yami will recall them) But all that and i still Friggin love it...
Its the closest to a real sno pro race sled that yamaha have ever come up with... (and its a fourstroke)

Great! I just picked up an '03 RX1 this summer and I'm glad to know I've got a boat anchor.
Actually, I know where you're coming from, but as much as anyone would like to update each year to the latest and greatest, most can't afford to. This philosophy holds true with any vehicle. The new model always out performs or is wwwwwaaaaaaayyyyyyyy better than the last.
I rode my 03 the other night for 15 miles, and I can tell you that it didn't take me long to realize that I'm going to really like this sled. Didn't feel at all like a boat anchor, in fact, it made me completely forget about my beloved SRX I sold.
Again, I'm sure many of the characteristics are quite improved upon, but there's a price for that, and I'll be just as happy riding my dinosaur '03.

I rode an APEXGT LOVED IT! but cannot justify sellingmy RX-1s at 4000-5000 per and upgrading. still will cost me 11000.00 plus up grades.

ok brian,im sure your new toy is all that and a bag of chips but lets look at the big picture.
you can find a used rx1 from 4,500 to 6,000 and add a turbo for about 5,000.so lets say this trx1 would cost a guy about 10,000 witch is about what you paid for your gt.so for 10,000 we both spent on our new sleds witch one would be first accrost the lake? over a hundred more hp then a gt and u talk about fun pushing the triger on a sled with 300 hp doesnt give u butterflies somthings wrong.so in short ill take my 300 hp boat ancher and u can eat ice chips as long as u like.

I would put my beat up old RX1 against any new Apex any day of the week in the mountains!
All you have to do, to kick any Apex is track, tunnel, skid, exhaust, seat, drop and roll, raise bars, Nos or Supercharger, AND, you can do most of that for less than the price of a new Apex, including buying a RX1.
I was seriously thinking about buying an Apex, but fortunately the guys that wanted it never finished the deal. I did back out of one deal, I really wanted the Redline, but its a short track, and cant be lengthened.

I test rode a Apex GT this weekend with all intentions of trading my 04 RX-1 if the deal was right. The Apex is really a very nice sled, but like others have said it's not worth $11,000 and the beating I am going to take on trading my 04.
Nope, not for me. For me, test riding the Apex was a good thing. Made me realize that I truly like my 04 and will be keeping her.

Yeah ! I Rode for 75 miles last night on my 03' Boat anchor, Had a great time. That is what I have been waiting for all summer ..
A friend of mine just bought the Apex and let me take it for a spin. Beautiful sled no dought about it.. But I love my old 03' I would not trade it for the $10, 000.00 or so . No way I will keep my $ Until my 03' takes a ---- If that will ever hapen.

I think I'll still wait another year. Seems the new Attak/Apex models are having alot of growing pains as did the 03 Rx's. I have said it a thousand times, I'll never buy a first year model sled. I hate fixing stuff for Yamaha. Some of you should visit the Apex forum and see the problems these guys are having. Glad I kept my 05!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

But thanks to all you guys are time and time agian willing to be the yamaha test pilots, what would we do without ya.
I also won't ever sno-check again as you can ALWAYS get just as good of deal in late Dec or Jan, even better in march.

Welterracer your posts are usually very helpful but this one is just a jab at people who can't or choose not to buy a first year model. I'm pleased that you like your new sled but to put down fellow TY members is just plain low and uncalled for. It's kinda on the level of kid talk "my dad is stronger than your dad".
