well guys after much debating on getting a four stroke i finally pulled the trigger on a 07 fx phazer. its the base model so it does not have reverse (would of liked it) oh well tho guess i will live.
anyway i wanted to ask a few questions since this is my first fourstroke (i'm comming off a 02 viper). when i got the sled home i was doing a more in depth check of the sled, i noticed that it has one limiter strap that seems to be snapped at the bottom of the sled
. is there supposed to be just one strap or 2 like my old viper? next i noticed that this thing turns like a tank when your going under 30 mph, and i mean a TANK. maybe that had something to do with the C&A pro skies on there? there is almost no darting at all, but man is this thing tippy (guess im going to have to lean some more)
and lastly there is quite some play in my steering, its not really a big deal to me but i think i herd somewhere that this was common in the 07's? But i will tell ya what THIS THING ROCKS!!! i don't want to drive my 2 smokes ever again after getting used to the engine, if feels like im driving my KFX all over again!! And im pretty sure there is some definite need of attention to my front end, i had her up on the jack earlier today and there is some play in the a arms and most of the bushings have play as well (this should be fun)
but all in all i like it and im glad i finally pulled the trigger. Sorry for the long post guys but i just wanted to let ya know how i feel about this thing. it woud be greatly appreciated if you have any suggestions about the heavy steering, tippeyness or the limiter strap situation!!

Fix the play in the a-arms (oilite bushings) and get the steering fix from up_buschman it will help with the steering alot.. It's still heavy to steer but it will go where you want it o go.. I also disconnected my swaybar, and even though the sled is tipsy I feel as it is more predictable and does what you expect it to.. With the swaybar conected i feelt it tossed you areound side to side and you tipped over becuase of that..

Take your serial number to your local dealer and have him check to see if all the Service Updates and recalls have been done.
I just bought an 07 Mountain Lite and found out that NONE of the updates had been done. My local dealer did all the updates including installing new ball joints for FREE !!!

Congrats on your purchase and welcome to TY.
I have a VLite and it has two straps - not sure about the Phz. You should be able to tell if the one there is not centered (is to one side) then there should be two. And most likely there is a little bracket for the strap to go through on the upper rod. Also you can look on a site like Port Yamaha and find the suspension fiche and figure it out. There are some adjustments to that will help with the tippiness such as tightening down the limiter straps - and body english when riding will help a lot. I have Slydogs on mine and it turns easy at all speeds so I think your skis are a factor there.
Sounds like you are going to enjoy it - the torquey motor is fun I must say.

Phazer has one strap.
The FX was setup in a different hole than the GT and Standard. The GT and Standard were pulled in one hole. I pulled my FX in as well to get those skis planted.
All of the phazers were the "FX Chassis" to be clear, you do not have a Phazer FX, you have a Standard. It will help you when working with a service department or getting help on this site.
The major difference that the FX has over your standard, was the Ripsaw track (which does not apply to you) clicker shocks, Reverse, and a wiring harness that could accept a radiator fan without splicing the harness. Otherwise, they were basically the same.
Good luck.

That's the way my standard shocks are installed. I'd really like to upgrade them.
