I'd like to spend some seat time on a Viper too, 'cuz that RTX LE is calling my name from a distance...I've checked out the XTX my dealer has sitting in the showroom a few times as well.
Don't blame you for not checkin' out the Doo's...nice sleds but kinda boring to ride...a least the 'Gade I looked at buying was. The Freeride might be a different story all together though. Plus, there are so many Doo's, how do you know which one is yours when you come out to the parking lot? I think that's why they came out with those funky colors.
I have heard that over and over again, what exactly do you mean by "boring to ride" Serious question.
Doo did bump up the oil usage some, heard that numerous times now that they are no longer as efficent as they once were in that regard.
Also heard they're a tad harder on gas as well?

the way i see it, ski doo sleds almost seem like "old man" rides.. they almost take the fun out of riding to me. the power seems to smooth and almost lame, teh suspension works so good that you dont really have to do much. you just simply ride. idk about you guys, but me being 23 years old, i love knowing that i can or have to throw a sled around and use body language when riding. having a racing background has made me this way, and i prefer riding something that encourages that.

I compare it to driving a sports car, say a Dodge Viper, then hopping in a BMW sedan. Nothing wrong with a BMW sedan at all. Great, smooth power. Something you'd want to drive everyday to work and use to get after it on the weekend a little bit, maybe take it to the track and run some 1/4's with it. But they kind of drive themselves and have nanny features that are difficult to override.
Now a Viper is going to be a brute in traffic, loud, guzzle gas like it's got a hole in the tank...but that feeling you get when you stomp on the loud pedal cannot be matched. Always keeps you on your toes and is meant to be driven.
It's great to have choices, but I like my sleds to respond to my input and be able to ride them as I choose, not the other way around.

Irv - If you haven't been on a and newer renegade either xp or xs chassis then you wouldn't understand but in order to understand I suggest trying one. Gas and oil consumption went up on the 600 and the 800. Why? 16 inch wide track on 13 and newer models... huge difference in rolling resistance. 3 year engine warranty! Can't have them blowing up on Ski-doo's wallet.
HARTLE RACING - Exactly my thoughts. I could ride a new renegade a read a book at the same time and not be sure which was more boring.. guess it would depend on what I was reading about. New Polaris' sleds are a lot of fun to ride. Procross chassis is also a very boring not so nimble sled.
