Since moving back to the cold climate in 1997 after 21 years in the Navy, I started snowmobiling again. Well, the winters have been hit and miss in northern Wi. I have had a couple v-maxes, SRX's, viper, RX1, Apex, Attack and a nytro XTX over the years. At the end of last year I was going to wash my hands of snowmobiling for a year or two and just rent a sled a couple times a year. No more payments for a sled that is sitting in the garage for 9 months. So I sold my attack, nytro and enclosed trailer.
Here comes winter 2010...and it came in fast with a lot of snow. I got the itch bad and started checking on rentals. Well, if I could handle riding a 600 ski-doo for a weekend that would be great but, throw in insurance and $300-$400 for a weekend and it doesn't sound as great.
So I bit the bullet and bought an 08 Apex LTX GT anniversary... Now I have to fix the hand warmers and put a rear heat exchanger on it and maybe some pilot ski's with bergstrom triples, mirrors, higher seat, bar riser ... etc etc... Man what did I do? LOL
Can't wait to be back on an Apex LTX (aka Attack)

Your a addict just like the rest of us. Give up on the rehab =) ;)!

Rob your an addict. You really need some help.jk. I could never give up riding, its how I forget all the other things I dont want to think about. I hope you enjoy the sled and watch the slides. ( you probably dont remember but I put new rails on your srx about 9 years ago) Shane.

Shane,
I remember!! Ya that was when I learned that 200 miles in snirt, snow and ice is bad on a brand new 02 SRX!!!! Glad you didn't cut your finger on that rail it was so thin and sharp like a knife!! LOL
But, now that you mention it I guess I should get polcat or parts unlimited bigger wheels for the LTX!
Should I be like a newbe again and ask " What things I need to do to this sled?"

Hi, my name is Mike, and i'm a Yamaholic. Welcome back. That's a very positive first step, admitting your addiction.
Don't give in to the temptation of the snow haters, You are safe now with your TY Support Group.

Welcome back.
I almost made the same mistake a few years ago before I bought my Nytro. Yes it can be a short season but there's nothing else like it.

HA HA!! I tried to quit too. Just couldn't. I'd see people flying down the trails and it would drive me nuts. I was out for four or five years and it was the longest four or five winters of my life. Welcome back! Drive it like you stole it, because life is just way to short.

Hi.
I'm Rock & I love Snowmobiling.

Some may call me an addict.
Well if breathing air makes me an addict, then I guess I am.
Snowmobiling is kinda like that... Air...
To me and most of my riding buddies at least.

Pretty much the only time in my life without a snowmobile was in college.
(Couldn't possibly afford then.)
Before & Since I have always had one.

They have ranged from beater sleds when i was a kid, to shiny new sleds as I could afford them.
Whatever the status of the sled, they all have one thing in common...
Sheer enjoyment.

It is one of those things that adds incredible enjoyment value to your personal life.
So much so that you can't help but talk about sledding when it is 90 degrees out & you are wearing shorts in the summer.
It is about as far from snow as you can get, yet, it is RIGHT THERE, always on the edge of your thoughts, never far away.
Comforting, maybe even disturbing to those that don't understand, yet greatly comforting to us.

So even if YOU think you're crazy, welcome back to the madness!!!
It's a great ride! ;)!

:yam:

Great right up Rock "and the crowd goes wild"!!!
Thanks for the welcome back into the the elite group of yamaholic addicts.
I should be on my first ride of the year tomorrow!!!!

Funny that Rhoag started this thread. I love snowmobiling, I do, ride whenever I can, even if it means getting up for work earlier so I can ride to work too. But.....this year and last years weather are really starting to tick me off!!! Both years started with a decent snowfall and have petered out from there. Don't really have the time to make any additional UP trips than we do. I was really starting to rethink the owning route too. For a place that touts an average snowfall of over 150" a year....we suck! And the worst part is it seriously looked as though the trails were gonna be groomed nicely this year, as soon as we had enough snow a few weeks ago they were out in force grooming daily. Now we are back to dirt on the main trails. :o|

My brother used to live in Grayling so I would trailer over and ride over there every now and then. There is just to much traffic in your neck of the woods. Kinda like coming into Munising on trail 8 ... way to many sleds.
I have found a very large area that I can make a 200 mile loop and hardly see a handful of sleds. Maybe it's because there aren't many bars!!! :(
