Last year during a TY ride hit a big hole it caused the rear of my 2006 attak tunnel to bend. I didn't see the damage until later it has fatigued the aluminum causing one inch cracks they have been repaired. I was in the process of putting back together today but found more stress cracks so no point in finishing this year. I had bought new tunnel sides just wondering if its better to go after market tunnel? Also how does one deal with different vin number on tunnel side? If stopped by police how do you explain?

For VIN numbers check with your DNR but I think they just till you to stamp the old VIN on and till.

Perhaps you could cut out the section of the original tunnel with the VIN and rivet it to the aftermarket tunnel?

Was thinking about doing that but may not look good.

Make it nice and square with rounded corners and straight edges and it will look fine. By having the original stamping it clearly proves ownership of the sled.
If you decide to stamp the vin #s on the new piece lay it down flat on some steel ,measure and tape off a straight edge or you can score it straight.stamp away, but you only get 1 shot so do it right the first time.you cant go back and erase it ! unless you grind/sand polish etc etc.
