Just throwing this out there

I would just keep it a couple more seasons. If Yamaha comes out with anything new it will need tweaking if they stay true to the course. If I were to get a new ride right now it would be a 4-Tec TNT. The new Cats are having issues or it would be one of those. I will probably never go back to a 2-stroke.

I was saying that as recently as last winter, but I'm about ready to pull the trigger on a Cat 800 or a Polaris 600. Hell, I'm even thinking of getting a left-over RMK a couple of years old to keep the price down. It's just time for something new.

Wait until the 2013 sleds are released yammi and doo could both have a knew chassis realistically. One of them will for sure i would say.

Please don't ban me from the club but I just don't think I can justify another yammi. I'm a firm believer in parting ways near the end of the warranty period. I have no doubts about reliabilty but after four seasons she is starting to show some wear marks. Plus selling it private party is always easier with one year of remaining warranty.

Ii don't know anything about the doo models but what would be comparable to power and handling vs nytro? I'm mostly a groomed trail rider.

I'd say the doo 1200 or even the Polaris fst. My dad has one and for trail riding that sled just goes great. I've even seen some bring up the boost on them and they turn into rockets.

Yammi needs to come out with a turbo nytro from the factory, and so does doo, they are loosing loyalty because Cat has had the big turbo out for 4 years, and what do all the guys who want the best of both worlds ride? Something that they can ride on the trail and something they can turn the boost up and compete. Rumor has it the new XF chasis is the real deal and is very fast out of the box.

My 2 cents

Hell i have only had mine for a year now and am debating weather or not to go get a New 1200 4-tech, heck even the turbo kits are cheaper for them than the nytro!

You know, despite saying that it makes no sense for someone with a Nytro to buy another, I started thinking today that it would sort of make sense for me to get an MTX if I found a left over for a good enough price. I'm thinking I'm going to keep my XTX no matter what I get, and having two of the same sled would have alot of advantages. And I know already alot of the things I'd have to do to the MTX to turn it into a sled I want.

I'd just have to avoid ever getting on a lightweight sled again to keep myself from wanting one for another 3-5 years.

Thats the biggest advantage. You already know what the sled will do, what wears out, and what will need to be replaced. My next sled will be a Nytro no matter what. I feel it is very tune-able to my liking

I know what your saying. I would just have a hard time plunking down 10-13k for a sled that might only last me a few seasons before needing a rebuild or worse a new crate motor. If you spend that much and have to wrench a sled more than normal maintenance after a few short seasons something is just wrong. Are two strokes "funner"? Ya probably but I want some engine reliability before anything. Is there any worse feeling then being on the wrong end of a rope? The TNT 4-Tech comes in 40 pounds lighter than my Nytro and all but setup right out of the box. That's hard to ignore.

I was just talking tonight about how much I would have to do to a new Nytro if I were to buy one vs buying almost any other sled. No matter how you look at it, you have to spend more money up front to own the Nytro.

If I were to buy a Nytro MTX on Monday, right off the bat I'd want a trail tank, an OFT relocater, an under tunnel exhaust, a tunnel rack, and possibly a lighter, higher seat. Maybe yamaheaters.

If I bought a left over RMK I'd need an under tunnel bag and a rack.

For trail riding the 1200 doo is ready to rock? No bs to take into account? Is that a good trail sled? Faster than a nytro? Warmer? 4 stroke reliability?

For those of you who may be familiar with the YFZ-450 ATV, it would be interesting to see Yamaha take two of those motors and convert them like they did with the Phaser and have a 900 in the Phaser chassis. That motor absolutely rips and if two were integrated together, that may be a pretty interesting ride! Otherwise, give me the Apex top end in my Nytro and I would be totally satisfied

That's what everyone thought the Nytro was going to be, but Yamaha said that they could build the triple just as light as the twin would end up being.

I agree with you though. I think there's lots of potential for a 900cc twin in a x-country style machine.
