Just wondering if anyone installed k&n filters on rx1. Installed set on 04 rx1 and noticed nice boost at low to mid range.Gas milage also better. This was in feb 04. Sounds awesome! Also reduces weight and adds room to carry supplies in engine compartment.

Welcome Aboard 04 Hemi! Actually alot of people on this board have installed K&N filters with great success! At least for me! 80 days left before sledding again! :o|

Hemi, did you have to do any mods to make the filters fit? Do you have the K & N parts numbers? How much?

My 3 brothers 2 nephew 1 brother-inlaw and myself installed the K&N filters on our 6 RX-!'s and 1 warrior and we love them, best money we spent. :4STroke:

I do recall reading someone had installed some K&N filters for a Raptor on their RX-1 but, I believe, had problems getting it to run right. I know Freddie's kit uses some special kind or design of K&N filter.

When the RX-1 first came out a few guys experimented with K&N's and had no luck at all. Some even reported loosing performance against stock RX-1's. It appears that the problem turned out to be the stock CV springs being too strong. With the airbox installed heavier springs need to be used because of the strong vacuum. Going to the filters virtually eliminates the vacuum and the springs don't wanna give. I believe it was Freddie at Eastern Cycle Performance that realized the problem immediately and put together a kit for us that consists of special Dual K&N's, lighter CV springs, 165 main jets and a crank case breather filter. From there, guys at this site came up with a crank case venting system to help relieve the higher pressure that seemed to be generated with the kit (some reported top end loss with the kit and some figured it was because of the higher CC pressure). Now many on this site use ECP's kit along with an EVAC kit and with help from Matt Habada at the speedshop with Heavy hitter clutching setup for the filters we have better running, Faster excelerating with better fuel economy RX-1's, Warriors and Mountains :D

Ummmmm Yea Welcome 04 Hemi. I think this forum is pretty tired of me talking about the ECP kit which uses special K&N air filters. But with you asking about them gives me yet another chance to brag about them again.

Dude, I love these things, talk about a power lift for the RX-1. .....Cubby

Did anyone ever come up with a one way valve to eliminate taking off the cap? Just asking, I just got mine this summer
Thanks
Doug

When I was at Nelson's Snow Show, I got to talk with Fred & Jtssrx and look over Lightning Pro's new crank case EVAC kit. Not worrying about having to drain the cap or hose is one thing I really like about this kit. I also liked how it was installed; the canister sits on the U-shaped steering gate above the engine. This kit will drain the oil back into the engine and you don't have to cut holes in your K&N filters. I forget the price, but I thought it was around $90-$100 US. Of course, I also have all the other parts to do the EVAC system like Cubby has done. Not sure which I way I will go but am sort of leaning towards jtssrx's kit. Need to see what other goodies I want and go from there.

I`m very slow with typing so the reply will be brief. Indy, Mighty Warrior hit the nail on the head with his reply. Complete kit cost $400 canadian installed. Only problem was venting, had to reroute crankcase pipe over and between carb filters.Problem solved. Sorry to rehash this topic again but being new i didn`t know it was discussed at length.BJNiceguy,my kit came with a filter for the crankcase pipe.By the way kit was purchased thru yami dealer so i dont have the part numbers, and no other mods as yet other than cosmetic.
