2014 SR Viper LTX SE
I have the 2014 LTX SE 137" with the stock track. I have an intake and pipe but no turbo. I will not be putting a turbo on THIS sled either so I don't need any suggestions that include installing one. I have over 5000 miles on the Ripsaw II 1.25 and so far love it. I ride mostly groomed trails but was introduced to the power lines and off trail fun toward the end of the season and had a blast. The 1.25" seemed to work good. I love the traction and handling on the trail. Should I put another Ripsaw II 1.25 on or change to something else? Is there something better that I'm not considering? I heard rumors about a 1.5" Ripsaw II. Any suggestions or opinions are appreciated. Thanks guys!

Only suggestion I'll make is to not put a track on that has the "quiet" bumps on the inside of the track, it robs power power and ultimately does nothing. The stock ripsaw 2 has these bumps so you'll know what I mean

The 1.5 Ripsaw 2 does sound interesting. I saw that it should be out this year. I don't mind the 1.25 Rip 2 but it's not my favorite track even though I'm running the ice attack XT version on our 137. I prefer the Cobra 1.6 I have on my 141 for messing around off trail and loose snow. I'm considering a 2016 137 and I've been debating myself on what track. Run the stock Rip 2 or swap to another attack XT or do a Cobra or 1.5 Rip 2 when they are available. Decisions....

Yamahatim ran the 1.6" ice ripper last ear and it did well in the deep stuff

I have the 1.6 cobra ice and freaking love, love, love it. It really works well off trail and on the groomed trail it hooks up well and compliments the torque of this sled. After seeing the performance of the 1.6 track 3 of my buddy are putting them on next year. I have the excell intake, clutch kit and mbrp can. If you mostly drive groomed trail and would like to go off trail with confidence, this is all the track you need.

I also have the 1.6 ice cobra track. It's the best track I have ever put on a sled, I do mostly trail riding and sometimes we get some nasty road running or trail conditions and I was amazed at how well this track is holding up. I only have 2000 miles on it but haven't had any lugs rip off or any issues with the track. It hooks up awesome in the groomed trails and is better then I thought it would be on the ice since I am used to studs. I also love it off trails, definitely gives more confidence, just keep on the flipper and you can get through everything.

Raceit, You were with us and saw how the 1.6 Cobra track worked both on and off trail. As mentioned already, it is the best track I have ever had in my years of on-trail and off-trail.

Just an FYI, Boostednytro also put on a Cobra track and it hooks up so much better than his 1.25 ripsaw he had.

Im also interested in changing the stock track on my viper when i get it. I was thinking about the 1.375 ice attack. but now you guys got me looking at the 1.6 cobra.
I run mostly all groomed trail. is the 1.6 too aggressive for full time trail?

How does the 1.6 cobra get thru the corners on the trail? I ran the 1.3 cobra for about season on an xtx apex, and I really fought it thru trails that were a bit tighter. The back end just would not slide - at all.

1.6 works fine on the trail in my opinion, but yes you will get more push than a 1.25 track. There is always some compromise. I've considered the ice cobra since I was impressed with the attack XT, but have known guys that were unhappy with the lack of the number of studs in it and say it can get a bit greasy. It has less than half the number of studs than the attack xt.

I haven't had an issue with the cobra ice and the number of studs for safety issue. It will not hold the traction on ice under power and spin out but as soon as you let off you have traction again. My wife has the 1.25 ice ripper and she still has the same problem with way more studs. It will not perform like a real studded track. Its only for safety.

I agree the prestudded are only for safety, not hooking up. But since I've never tried the ice cobra, the 2 per row as opposed to the 4-6 on our attack XT along with some reports of it being inadequate, have me a little leary.

Glad to hear some do like it. Not to hijack the thread but....anybody else that's actually used one have any feedback on the Ice Cobra? Even better if you have used the other "ice" tracks in grip and stopping comparison.

How does the 1.6 cobra get thru the corners on the trail? I ran the 1.3 cobra for about season on an xtx apex, and I really fought it thru trails that were a bit tighter. The back end just would not slide - at all.
It seems by fought it you mean to get the rear end loose. I have the 1.35 Cobra like it allot but by no means can you slide the rear end out easily. I think the 1.6 is similar. The accel decel traction and side slip bite is good and strong on these cobra tracks not sure what to advise if you want to slide the rear in the corners.

I have a 1.6 Cobra and rode mostly groomed trails and the occasional off trail. I LOVE this track and am surprised at how well it had held up against the beating I have put it through. I have yet to find any lugs torn off this track yet with 2500 miles on it.

BTW I have a 141 1.35 COBRA for sale in the classified sections if anyone is interested PM me with an offer.
