Came off a Rage with a set of yammie mountain ski's. Didn't corner too terrible. Man, this thing is a different story. I expected the push, but even on long gradual turns out on the lake, I have to lean hard or the inside ski wants to come up and throw me off. Where is the best place to start. I've bumped up the preload (does anyone know what the max preload is on the stock apex mountain front coils) and it's not good. Would sucking up the limiter be any help? Also I have both rear suspension settings, set to the stiffest (I'm a 300 lber). Most riding is trails so that's what I would like to set it up for. Also would going with the standard A-arms off an Apex shortie help for stability by gaining a couple of inches in width.

My '03 Rx-1 Mountain has stock yammie mountain skis and it always lifts its ski. Usually I just lean a bit, give her a quick turn in the way she is tipping so she drops a bit and then hits the throttle and she levels out. Nip her tight with your legs or else you will get the toss haha.

Mine had a little lift but cornered awesome on the trail, many short track sleds couldn't keep up.Tighten your limiter straps up.I believe I had my coils on my front shocks just snug when the fron is off the ground.

strapes

tighten the strapes and the front end will be heavier on the skis.and turn up the shocks..this is great for my fox shocks..put more in for the trails and less to boondock...but remember ..it is a mountain.. :-o

some thoughts

You know I've tried every variation and none really helped....I have become comfortable with a softer front shock/spring setting so it would give more before tipping and contour more to the bumps etc. with out bouncing, this is how I currently ride.
Another thought of mine is I ride many miles of trail in and out of the mountains and am seriously considering going to the 13mm sway bar for the trail rides in and out. I'm thinking that if I run the stiff sway bar with quick disconnect pins once I reach the hills I can just popp the pin on one side and ride away with out the sway bar. Theoretically this should help the trail manners giving a more compliant ride in and out.......I will be trying this set up next year. Anyone else run a heavy sway bar with disconnects?
